Cuban cigars are good; but stay the fuck away from their packaged cigarettes (Cohiba's, their most popular brand, are just waaay too rough to enjoy).

My finest moment with a cuban cigar came in a far off country sitting on a hotel room porch smoking a cuban, drinking rum, and smoking a fat joint of the worst weed i've ever smoked

I've smoked a lot of cubans, some were good, some bad. same with dominican and honduran cigars

You have to watch out sometimes. Most Cubans sold in Canada turn out to be fake. Seems to be more about the image these days than the connoisseur smoker.

which is retarded because canada doesnt have an embargo agaist
cuba, the US does and cubans arent really any more costly than
dominican in most countries

I love a good cigar, but I've never tried any cubans yet...

I just finished smoking a Oliva Serie G Cameroon myself... First one of those I've tried, but it wasn't quite my thing...

My favorite cigars are probably Rocky Patel 1990's.  Mmmmm....

A lot of illegal factories produce cigars with the sweepings of old tobacco leaves from legitimate factories or just use horrible tobacco to cut costs. The demand for Cubans is just so high these days that if people can produce cheap knock offs and get away with selling them they will still make a profit well worth it.

I'm not sure if hes still around but for many years Canada's exclusive importer of Cuban cigars was Abel Ortego. He was the retail supplier and sold about 3 million cigars a year in Canada alone. Even with this tight control though the company itself still seems to find fakes within their batches, even factory workers who are aware of the differences between a $420 box of cigars and a $60 and even the store owners themselves could be easily tempted to make the switch.

Its pretty interesting stuff...to me anyway.
