Peruvian Torch Seeds

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get some peruvian torch seeds? Apparently most seed vendors for this cactus have the kk242 variety which is highly unreliable and often not the right cactus at all. I found a thread talking about this on the day my kk242 seeds arrived and so I am pretty disappointed, I dont want to spend years growing these things only to find out they have no "spirit". So if someone could show me a source which definitely has good strains, which they know of from personal experience I would really appreciate it.
I think there may be some rules against public posting such things but if people could PM with a link that would really help me out.

I am Canadian so getting a cutting across the border is a big hastle even though the cactus is legal here.

You should grow some T. Bridgesiis instead, there's almost no chance to go wrong with that one!

I have heard that torch has more of the good stuff in it though, do people find that san pedro or bridgesiis are usually about the same?

It varies a lot, and considering how fucked up peruvian torch genetics is (people selling cuzcoz as peruvianus, breeding them with cuzcoz or otherss), it wouldn't surprise me if most bridgesiis (which also contain some kind of MAOI, so they potentiate themselves a bit) were more consistant in term of alakloids.

If you want it for mescaline, I'd recommend you going with Pachanoi or Bridgesii.

If you're going for collecting plants, I'm not very sure but I've got me some 'Tarma' Peruvianus, for collections sake.

Could do both. Use cuttings for something you know is reliable, as seeds are only as good as your trust in a vendor. By the time they grow to something identifiable, the vendor probably won't even exist any more (the way most run these days).

"Peruvian torch" or even T. peruvianus aren't really names I would trust with any live cactus or seed. Lots of dry stuff is sold as peruvianus, and is apparently quite useful. That doesn't mean it is literally the species peruvianus, though. It just means it's good cactus and the name sells. It's not too surprising that some of that works quite well, since most (all?) of it is imported from areas that the cacti grow (thrive) naturally.

What ever the original T. peruvianus is or was, I'm not sure anyone knows. There are strong and weak, morphologically different cacti sold under the name. Go by reputation or positive reviews instead. Pachanoi, though easier to identify, can be good or quite mild. It is pretty variable even between clones it seems. Bridgesii is a pretty safe bet, and morphologically distinct from the others.

id go with bridgesii seeds. lots of pachnoi seeds seem questionable these days. also where they were collected will have a dramatic difference on your results. as far as peruvians stick with european or the harder to find american vendors.
