Seems like people on the east coast use pop and west coast use soda.

When people say pop I laugh. Sounds dorky and childish. Makes me think of soda like how it was in the 1800's, little boys all across the land yearning for the rare delicacy that only the rich could afford.

what about sodapop  ?  I hear tons of people say that.

I say either, but pop seems more legit because soda, is just soda, not the syrup.

i say soda when im in the southeast and pop when im up in PA. different regions have different words i guess.

When my Ex moved to PNW from Maryland she had barely ever heard soda called pop before.

And everyone I knew said pop, but now she got soda stuck in my head.

I say pop I just think soda sounds old like when you would go on a date and grab a soda. Everyone I know says pop in BC

pop = 1 syllable
soda = 2 syllables

So I say pop, and I'm probably going to end up saving myself a couple minutes of time and energy over the course of my lifetime not saying the extra syllable.  But I probably just spend those couple minutes writing this useless paragraph.

Anyways yea I live in Michigan and everyone here says pop.

I'm from MI and always used to say pop, I even used to pick on one of my ex's because she said soda.  However, at some point I think I switched to soda (might have been in college,) it just doesn't sound as childish :shrug:

I suppose I switch back and forth sometimes, but I always say pop-machine.

CannaCybin: yeah, that's why you guys don't count.
