I've never seen either but I've spent time in Fargo and upper North Dakota. I've spent a lot of time all over Minnesota as well but I guess I've never noticed the northerners up there talking funny, spent most of my time with other outsiders or in the woods away from the locals though.
Fargo is right on the border so it does all make perfect sense.

Yeah me too! And when I go to a restaurant and I ask for "coke" and their like "We only have pepsi.." and I'm like "Well get me some fucking Pepsi! That's what I said!"

Honestly I call it both soda and pop interchangebly. I used to live in Pennsylvania but moved to Florida... so that might have something to do with it.

I live near chattanooga and I have never heard of "dopies"either. Mainly coke and soda.

You might not realize it because you may have the same accent. All my relatives live in the midwest, and to me they all have a distinct accent. It's noticable in the way you pronounce your vowels.

minnesotans sound like Canadians kind of.. but more Canadian than Canadians sound... if that makes sense.

they pronounce bagel like bAgel (like you would say "plastic bag") and it sort of sounds like begel.

and their "o"s are more like "Oaah"s ... like "Oah ya! We 're fram MinneSoahta! Would you liek a begel?"

Tell me about it untill last week I had been there a month and sadly Fargo was the most interesting place I could go for hours around. I can't even understand the drunk fuckers up there, it's like another country.

Weird.. Minnesota people have a very distinct accent to my Virginian ears.

I meant to say I can definitely hear the North Dakota accent but my extremely stoned ass forgot to add that, that's why I mentioned I've been up there recently and that I can't understand those people when they are drunk.
I just didn't see it as a Minnesota thing probably because I didn't spend time there with around locals, I was fishing, camping, boating and hiking with people I knew from other places or at concerts so my experience with locals in northern Minnesota is non existent.
