This kind of thinking generally annoys me but there is now a significant body of work that should border on 80% confidence.
Does Johan Santana cause a greater decrease in his team's offense or the other teams offense? A real stat wonk could do an analysis with a single tail T-test to determine the significance of the difference of the decrease in offense when Santana pitches for the Mets on both sides of the ball.
