Strasburg will be the first player selected in the 2009 MLB first-year player draft. He can throw up to 103 MPH, and he has very good command. Strasburg was probably the best college pitcher ever, even better than Mark Prior. They say that he may bypass the minor leagues entirely, and he might pitch for the Nationals late this season. Thoughts about this guy?

There a few things more certain than the fact that Strasburg will not fall to the Yankees in the draft. The National's pretty much have to sign him at whatever price.

I think the Nationals will probably shut him down for the year after they draft him. They're not going to stomp all over his arm like the Cubs did with Prior.

He makes a fuck ass load of money. I think Strasburg will sign a 20-25 million dollar MLB contract. Boras will not get him 50 million.

I was hoping the Indians could get him. We are the worst team in baseball right now and I dont see us getting much better

So Nationals have the #1 pick in the next draft? I have no idea how baseball's draft works to be honest

The draft order is determined by the win-loss records of the teams the year before. Worst record picks first, second worst picks second, and so on. This is the order for 2009:

The Nats have to sign him even though he has Boras.  Actually, I think Boras took a big hit after Manny got banned for 50 games and A-Rod came clean.  Plus that and the economy, it's possible they get Strasburg for a discount.

ESPN says that the Nationals might just throw him in the rotation immediately after he signs. I think that is what Scott Boras wants. That would be pretty cool.
