Just ate 1.1g of a mushroom I've never tried...

So you may have seen the thread about Newbie and I hunting for morels and mistakenly finding some active mushrooms in PA. While we were out hunting, I sent a picture of some massive morels to one of my Shroomery hunting buddies in GA and he reminded me that Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata ("ovoids") were up, so I kept an eye out for them. And holy shit, we found them.

I've tripped on a lot of species of mushrooms before, and each one is different. So I decided to give ovoids a try tonight. Cleaned them up and ground up 1.1g in a coffee grinder. Swirled that in a scotch glass 1/4 of water and downed it. Fuck that stuff is gross. Chased it with some beer. This was about 20 minutes ago... My face already has that tingly feeling.

I really have no clue what I'm in for, but these are supposed to be up there with cyans and azures for potency, so I could end up getting fried tonight from just a gram.

BTW, other species I've tried, if you're curious:
Psilocybe cubensis
Psilocybe weilii
Psilocybe atlantis
Panaeolus subbalteatus
Panaeolus sp. (unknown species)
Gymnopilus spectabilis

I appreciate you being the guinea pig in this situation.  :lol:  I'll be traveling to the VA mountains (Shenandoah Valley) memorial day weekend, and I'll probably be dosing with a friend.  Such the perfect setting and everything too, I'm really excited to give my first wilds a shot.

Alright, here's an update:

Realized a trip was coming on, so I decided to drop the Cosbys off at the pool before stuff got heavy. While I was doing that I read a magazine and the colors were very vivid and my vision shifted to a yellowish tint. The whole bathroom took on a yellow tone. Reading became difficult.

One of the bars near by is having a live band tonight and I heard it though the skylight in my bathroom, and I have music going. That really messed with my head.

Now I'm back at my computer (obviously) and I see trails behind the mouse pointer, feel euphoric, grinning like an idiot, yawning a lot (hate that!), room seems brighter than usual,  and holy shit there's a bug on the remote control.... Not anymore, I killed it.

That's about all my thoughts on the trip for right now... but holy living fuck these things are potent! Jebus christ on a stick.


Newbie: you should look from some ovoids while you're there, that place is notorious for tons of ovoids.

I've been talking to people on AIM and chilling out listening to Beck (do you want to ride on the Baltic Sea?). Great times. Trip is a nice level 2 or 3 at this point, seeing patterns on stuff, but they're not moving. I kind of have to get in a zone to type properly and use correct grammar, otherwise it's difficult. Song just stopped and typing became quite hard. Fucking weird how that works.

Totally forgot about why I was going to make this post for a second there. Went to the kitchen to grab a beer and my gecko was out (she's hungry). I took a second to look at her and remembered that's part of the reason I like reptiles so much. They're fucking awesome to look at while tripping. I mean, how could you not like looking at this while tripping:

geckos are one of the greatest animals to trip to imo. Is the tokay gecko in the picture yours?

Once I get a macro lens for me SLR pics should get a lot better.

As far as the trip goes, I LOVE this low dose trip. I'm coherent enough to hold a conversation yet see visuals all over the walls. It's quite nice. Wouldn't work well in public though. I'd be grinning like an idiot and laughing at everything. Me + tripping + public = no

Alright, update again. This trip is strange. It comes and goes in waves, but is always there. I've peaked probably 4 or 5 times since I dosed. It could be due to what I ate earlier in the day, or could just be the nature of the mushrooms. Great trip overall, very functional trip, not overwhelming. Bout to smoke pot though. We'll see how that goes... Usually takes the trip up about 15 notches.

think i have a fair chance of finding Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata in Jersey? We have had a solid week of shitty humid rain, so now or never for mushrooms i would guess. Any trick on finding em? i might just go to some cow field nearby but otherwise i wouldn't know where to start. If you're too incoherent to respond don't sweat it :smile:

I aim to find out if they grow in Jersey. From what the Hunting Forum knows, they do. Not sure how far north though. I'm pretty far up in Jersey, I usually go hunting around Washington/Cinton, NJ. Great hiking. Lots of blueberries and raspberries... edibles and actives, haven't seen much of either. I suspect it's because I've been in the wrong places at the wrong times.

BTW, cowfields, completely wrong for anywhere north of GA/TN. You want rotting wood (ovoids, gymns) or horse manure(Panaeolus) around here.

I want a Bufo alvarius toad too. I don't know that that I could harvest the venom from it though... Or bring my self to smoke the venom for that matter.

I'm just a huge fan of frogs and toads. Sucks that a ton of them are about to go extinct... due to fungus. Shitty way for a species to go extinct. That's my stoned/tripping thought for the moment.
