Hey yall, I've always been fond of the outdoors and being a city-boy I'm just giddy bout this new hobby I've taken up --canoeing local Illinois streams. We gotta beautiful state. Anybody else out there into paddling? How's the waters by you? The server won't let me put my pic up now. Maybe later. \ peace

Hey frog yeah the water is great. I go kayaking every so often. I love it. Last time I was almost taken out by some geese though. Geese are territorial and very mobile, and when they hiss you know you are about to get clobbered. heh

I don't get to do a whole lot of canoeing or kayaking, but I do own a one man skull that I share with a couple of other co-owners on the Schuylkill river. I love rowing, and the Schuylkill river has some of the best and most famous crewing in the world about 2 minutes from my house. The Dad-Vale Regatta, the biggest college crew tournament in North America takes place every year right here.
I also have a little stand in inflatable wader/tube that I go fishing with sometimes. It's like a high grade inner tube that has fishing waders built right in, and you can steer it and store shit on it to. A very cool toy.

I joined this club and I've been hitting local rivers all spring;. Today we went to the Kishwaukee River. I saw this. Otter I guess. Rivers are my refuge from the grid. I don't own a craft yet but by summer I probably will. Met some cool people on the river today. They gave me some beer. When their canoe capsized I rescued some of their belongings --a shoe, a jacket, 5 full beers, 2 cigarette packs (wet), 2 life preservers --BUT I DIDN'T GET THE EIGHTTH OF WEED -- or the pair of jeans with the 35 bucks and the pipe. They were really cool. They had their dog in the canoe with them. Anyway we made friends and w're gonna hook up and shroom and paddle some more this summer. By the way Illinois is awesome with rivers --we got the Mighty Mississippi. Also, Sony camcorders can withstand being submerged in river water. I fell in twice (with two different cameras in two different rivers). After the cameras dried out they worked fine I will probably fall in again. Picture quality is bad cause it's video. Here's one a fellow paddler took of me. Well, the server won't let me download it now.

Yeah I went canoeing once.... At Disneyland. I sat in the back of the canoe and let everyone else paddle and stuck my paddle in the water to make it look like I was paddling. That was fun. Just Kiddin... I love to canoe I really mean that

Ya know. I think you might be right. I thought otters were bigger than this. This thing was only a few feet long at the most (when stretched) here's another pic of it jumping out of the water and running. hehehehe. It was cool to see. No one else was around. The thing just paused for a bit and watched me video tape it , then scrambled very nimbly up the bank.

One of the greatest times i ever had was on a boy scout canoo trip. It was my first time (and only as of yet) to leave Texas. I was mabey 11 or 12. All the other boy scouts were in my opinion either nerds or rednecks. So i chilled with my big bro and his friends, who were about 3 years older. On the ride up I practiced my cleptomania skills, shopplifting as many buetane lighters as i could at every gas station along the way. I also scored munchies and other neat stuff, which was much apreciated in the back of the van. As soon as we hit arkansaa the highway turned to dirt and the lanscape turned into a scene out of deliverance. (not that Texas isn't redneck country) but damb it was bad. bait shops and pawn shops seemed to be the states main sorce of revenue. We arrived at basecamp and spent a night or two ther. We than took a bus-ride 30 miles up river, rented our canoes and set off on the calorado river. We spent about a week or something coming back to base-camp. Spent a few more nights ther. I discovered the genaral store in town was very unsuspecting and proceeded to rob them blind. Snacks, drinks, sunglasses, noveltys, and what did i spy sitting on the counter? A bucket ful of swisher sweets! I nabbed a handful of those. That night i, my bro, and his cronies sneeked off on the way to the showers to the woods wher we each smoked one as fast as we could to avoid detection. We were so light headed and dizy we swore there must have been some crappy weed in them. We did this every night untill they suspected we were up to something and escorted us to the shower-hut. We loaded our stuff up and continued on down the river another week untill the end of our journey at the white river. I canot express in words the buety i experienced those 2 weeks outther in the wilderness. Slowly paddling through woods, and beetween cliffs, in the golden sunlight. Swimming often. I saw beavers, mountain goats. I wittnessed a tree fall down in the woods 100 miles from civilization (it made a noise). Good times good memories. Sadly i was kicked out of scouts shortly ther-after for delinquency
