Deadheads Unite
    #996448 -

One thing I have learned in the many years I spent following the Grateful Dead around and seeing so many of they?re shows is that I really miss the people! We used to meet in different cities year in and year out! It was, and remains a community that I loved being a part of. It was always about the common bond in the music but the fans are the best in the world IMHO and I know that many of us are here in the Shroomery. Lets reunite if only in words, Post here of your experiences! Or just say Hi

I know I?ve discussed this before on the bb. I saw all the great rock bands from that era except for Hendrix and Joplin and there was nothing like a Dead show! I was lucky enough to see Jerry with the Dead and with the JGB about 130 or so times (which is not that much among Dead fans, I know many who saw well over 500 shows). I miss Garcia as though he was a member of my own family.

You have Other Ones now, you could always go see them, for some funny reason I think they will tour national in 2003.

Yeah I know what you mean, I don't think of it as a replacement its just the Other Ones are a little closer to the real thing than Phil & Friends.

While I've never seen the dead, I've  definitely had the chance too. When I was younger I wasn't really a deadhead, so to say. It's only since I've been a shroomer that I've really gotten into them.  I did buy 'Skeletons from the closet' when it came out in 72. Until recently in 99, it was the only thing I've ever listened too. I only like
anthem of the sun, aoxomoxoa and american beauty. I've heard some live stuff which is OK, but most of the people I know say that only by going to a dead show can one truly appreciate their music. I disagree.
I find 'Mountains of the moon' to be their most intrigueing song and defines their music to a T. Who knows, one day I may expand my horizons when it comes to the dead. For right now I'm happy with the music that I have.

BTW I'm more of a Beatles fan. Pink Floyd being my favorites. I did see them in 76 in Madison Square Garden.

your talking about the Dead of course with Jerry.....nothing will ever come close to a concert with Jerry Garcia, god i miss him as though I lost a family member and it hurts every time i hear his lead G talking to my very being!

god, no one will ever do the things he did on stage!
