shitty colonization with homemade syringes

so my buddy has grown pf tk style about 10 times, 5 with pro made syringes and 5 with homemade syringges.  the pro made syringes colonize much better, nice and white, and the syringe itself is completely clear. now, with the homemade syringe you can see all kinds of spores floating on EVERY homade syring grow the myc will colonize and start to get very yellow in some spots and vey slow colonization times. wtf is up with that

Sounds like bacteria(um). Yellow is usually a sign of metabolites and slow growth would suggest less than ideal conditions. Assume that the print or the syringe has some sort of bacterial contamination, it would have both effects.

Since it is just that one syringe, I have to say that is the reason.

The yellowing sounds like contamination to me. I would think bacterial.

Do the jars have excess moisture? Puddling in the bottom?

It could be a type of mold as well. I have had experiences with yellow mold and some types are pathogenic.

BE CAREFUL BROTHER!

It could be you have some sterile technique problems.


Post some pics of those jars in the contamination section if you could.

they are in the same environment as the other 4 KC substrain jars and the keepeers creepers are doing fine. this always happens with the home made syringes but thye alwyas end up fruting. ill pot pics.

it is snowing and about 20 below where he lives, poor guy.

Anyhow, that's pretty rough. Hope it warms up soon.

Any info on the preparation of said syringes? Boiling water, PC, flow hood, glove box, anything?

I'd be interested to see how it happened more than a couple times. My homemade syringes work great. Never have purchased any from vendors, but I have made a few myself from grows and have always had good luck.

Same here. Never had more than a couple contammed syringes in my almost 5 years of experience.

boiling spring water
pull syringe full of isopropyl annd shake it a bit
shooot out alcohol and ddraw in boiling water like 5 times
let it cool etc etc
scrape spores in shotglass ( sterilized w/ iso alcohol)
wait til water cools then shoot waterr in shot glass
draw back into syringe
wrap in foil and put in my fridge for a few days
(no glove box was used)

also, is there a link that can show you how to take clear up close shots cuz mine are too fuzzy to tell

here are so old pics from a previous grow but ill gte better ones

Did you hydrate the spores overnight before using em? If you make a syringe right after they dropp the spores you will find the growth is faster somewhat too...the yellow could just be myc piss especially if shit still fruited...

You need to follow proper sterile procedure. Sterilize your syringes in a pressure cooker and make them in a glovebox. Use sterile water.
