colonized PF cakes and alcohol

I have heard that after harvesting your mushrooms from a PF cake you can then grind it (it being the used substrate cake) up as if you were going to case it and soak it in alcohol for a few days to extract the last bit of "active ingredient"

Has anyone had experience with this? I had questions about how to determine a proper dose and what sort of alcohol is best.
