washing soda?

Can somebody please explain washing soda to me?  I mean, as far as making it goes?

I found something saying to just take 2 cups of boiling water and add a cup of baking soda to it.  So I did that and it fizzed up quite a bit but then just seemed to separate as it cooled.  I'm thinking that I'm supposed to end up with a liquid.  What I got was a layer of solid on the bottom of the pan and water on top with shit floating in it.

I've seen other things making it sound like you just take the baking soda and put it in the oven.

i just put baking soda in the oven for an hour at 200 degrees c

What are you trying to get?  What do you mean by "washing soda"?

Sodium bicarbonate will convert into sodium carbonate if you put it in the oven as stated above.

Well, I just wanted to say that I know sodium carbonate is a solid.  But it's also water soluble.

The intended use is for washing dmt crystals.

So you just put the baking soda (by itself) in the oven for a while?  And then would you need to dissolve some in water I guess before doing a wash?

I imagine so.  I've never heard of people washing DMT with sodium carbonate but yes you would need it as a solution.

Sodium carbonate does not dissolve that easily in water - bits of it tend to form hard crystals.

What is sodium carbonate supposed to wash away from the DMT?  :confused:

Lye apparently.  On another BB I said that I was going to use ammonia for the wash (like in Noman's tek).  I was told to use washing soda instead.

I couldn't imagine it being any better than just water but I'm no expert. 

I think a recrystallization would be good enough.  I doubt any appreciable amount of lye would come through.

You should search the dmt nexus they have lots of good info on the subject.

:lol:  That's the other BB that I was talking about.

Maybe I will just recrystalize.  Most of it came out nice looking but on my first pull I was still trying to figure out how to wield the turkey baster.  Not like I use one all the time.
