First Grow Using MycoBag, suggestions welcome. B+ and Costa Rican.
    #10073382 - 03/30/09 01:38 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

ok so this is my first post about my first grow. here is my timeline so far.

3/7 - inoculated 2 5lb grow bags (mixture of manure, straw, and rice i believe.) from eBay from unknown vendor with 3-3.5cc of Costa Rica spores from Sporeworks.com. I later found out that my spores probably wouldn't be able to germinate that substrate so forgot about those, they are still sitting in my closet at 80-85F, I will soon be getting rid of them and planting them in my flowerbed.

3/12 - inoculated 1 grain based myco bag with the remainder of my costa rican spores about 3cc. and put it in my closet at 80-85F.

3/20 - got impatient and mixed mycobag.

3/22 - first signs of myc in a quarter sized circle.

3/24 - costa rican mycobag was massaged at about 20% colonization. recieved syringe of B+ and inoculated my others 3 mycobags with 3-3.5cc each and put them in the closet.

now today on 3/30 my costa rican bag in about 40% colonized and i'm considering mixing it again, but would like someone elses opinion. my B+ bags still have no signs of myc but i'm just leaving them alone. I have a picture that was taken 2 days ago. I also would like someone's opinion about what i should do with my fully colonized bags, i've been considering fruiting invitro for my costa rican bag, should i cut holes, add a casing layer, and if so, what? dunk before hand, mist? i know there are other post on this, but i've already read alot of them and everyone has a diff opinion.

and then casing 2 or 3 of my B+ bags, but would like someone who has done this or has a good method for it to give me some tips. should i break the cake up or keep it whole? i was planning on using a rubbermaid, should i make a monotub? please let me know what you think.

mix up 40% bag and let it fully colonize, if properly sterilized it will finish colonizing.  B+ should take about 7-10 days to start colonization from multispore.  once colonized, break up the network and spw to poo in a tub, let colonize again, case or just fruit.

update.
so the costa rican bag is like stalled at 90-95% colonized and i tried to initiate pinning but i got impatient, i think i might move into a rubbermaid or something. any suggestions? i feel like just saying screw it and giving up. 1 out of 3 of my b+ bags contamed and turned black practically. and the other 2 are like 75% colonized but i don't feel like dealing with them anymore. any way to fruit without any effort?

you need to throw out any contaminated material and clean everything twice before you do anything else..

Effort is key- and you should wait till 105% colonization. 95% will prolly contaim IME.

What do you mean by 105% colonization?
