Do you think the USA is dying?

I won't go into details, I'm sure the vast majority of you guys know what's going on right now. I've been worrying a lot about the future lately with things going on. I would consider packing up and leaving but to what? If the US goes, there is a hell of a good chance that a lot of countries get messed up as well.

As far as the recession goes? No, we'll be fine, the question isn't whether or not we'll get out of the recession, the question is how long we'll be in a recession and what kinds of policies we'll resort to in order to fix our problems.

Also, instead of leaving why don't you try to enact some kind of real change. Run for a local office, create a movement, fix what you think is broken.

I'm not a politician, I don't think I'm qualified for any office.

I don't think the US is an empire but I know there are some who would think otherwise.

I think that is a good way of putting it. But a lot of it makes me sick.

What really makes it stink is that so many Americans are hanging on and doing whatever it takes to buy some time...

I'm also worried about the people looking at the military and criminal justice to keep up their lifestyles.

I don't think it will die until the oil starts to run out.  Or when the oil becomes too expensive that nobody can afford it.  And if they still haven't found an alternative energy source by then, we're really fucked.

they already have an alternative to oil, nuclear power.  but until a global government has been established that won't be possible as the threat of terrorists is to great to consider building nuclear power plants everywhere.

Yeah that's exactly why I think they would rather use solar panels or something like that.  But solar panels would have to be 50% efficient at capturing solar energy to be as good as oil.

solar energy would work for around town, coupled with really good batterys.  problem is, we are a long LONG way from being about to mass produce solar panels OR batterys for every family's needs.

think about it, could you see a wind mill and solar panels in everyone's yard or on houses? and basements full of batterys?  thats what it will take to be independent cleanly.  its just not possible, especially not with overpopulation.

the only really massive power source we have is oil and nuclear power, and i guess coal but that doesn't really count because i want to breath.

The stock market collapsed because it was severely over valued. But a drop to where we are was not expected.

Our countries emotions, have all been powered and driven by the market, and its volatility, which is CRAZY.

The stock market is a model of capitalism, and for capitalism to work, their needs to be rises and falls, or else there would be inflation through the roof and then our country, would fail. If anyone were to look back at different economic downturns and booms, they would all see that this is not something new, has happened a lot, and a down turn only means there is a boom in the future.

If we are in a recession, it really doesn't feel that way. Our country is driven by collective fear right now.

How many people can tell me if they, or people they knew, are constantly putting in likee comments about how crumby the economy is and how its effecting them negatively ? ? ?
