This is a pretty big even that has been going on for the past few years. Cities all over the world are participating in the march, so if there's one near you...go!

I'll be attending the march in Toronto, Ontario with some fellow shroomerites.

The Global Marijuana March originated in New York 30 years ago as the Million Marijuana March. In the past 3 or 4 years there has been global attention in hundeds of cities in nations all across the globe.

This year it's sponsored by Cannabis Culture.

I attended a march in Milwaukee, Wisconsin a few years back. It was kind of a cool thing. Not a lot of people showed up, but we were getting attention from passersby nonetheless. It was fun walking around town smoking pot openly on the street. A few cops drove by and didn't say anything. Some dealer in a broke down vehicle pulled over and sold a few people some nickle and dime bags. Some a-hole, douchebag suit-and-tie guy in a big building yelled sarchastically out of his office window, "GO SMOKE SOME CRACK!" Overall, it was a fun march. There were people of all ages, ethnicities, etc. I want to go again this year. I just hope there are more attendees. Maybe more people showed up to the march in Madison, the state capital.

EDIT: Doesn't look like anything planned so far is close to me. There's only two locations for Wisconsin so far, and they're both at least 3 hours away.

Well shit..looks like the Saturday march is my hometown. I might have to go. Interesting way to start off the summer...

Not to mention we are the hometown of CNN, so ATL is pretty important.

So I went to the Kansas City "march". It was prettty sad, there was a total of about 15-20 people who showed up, of which a few of them held signs by the road, a large group sat around in the grass and smoked hitters, and a few kicked around a socer ball with a bush mask on it, which was actually very amuseing. There was'nt really much going on, at least a few people did come out. no marching, that's for sure. I guess KC is not really about the activism. We chilled around at the park for a couple hours, then a lot of us went to a bar in westport and watched an outdoor metal show that was cut short by the rain.  This was not well advertised here, but I still can't help but feel that this apparent lack of careing is a huge reason people still go to jail for haveing this plant in thier possesion. :smirk:

I went to the combined anti bush demonstration and the global marijuana march in Amsterdam.

There were between 1,000(police estimate) and 8,000(organization estimate) people.

I'm a bit more moderate on political issues than most people there. And I was there for the legalize.net global marijuana march to demonstrate against the war on drugs. It was fun and it feels good that you have the right to do these things and let people know what you think. We walked from the museumplein through the center of Amsterdam and back to the museumplein.

The 4th of June will be a  Legalize demonstration, for the legalization of all drugs. I'll be there for sure.

Unsuspecting tourists walking through Queen's Park yesterday might have wondered if they had passed through a time machine and wound up at a U.S. college peace rally in the 1960s.

Tie-dyed T-shirts, laid-back people with bongs and the heady scent of pot hung in a haze just north of where the provincial government sits.

Close to 3,000 people celebrated cannabis culture as part of the sixth "Global Million Marijuana March," marked in more than 200 cities worldwide.

"We want to see it legalized and decriminalized," said organizer Franklin Skanks. He believes legalizing pot would bring in more revenue via "sin taxes," boost tourism and help shut down organized marijuana grow-ops.

Supervised by Toronto police, the rally went off without a hitch. No one was charged.

A 30-something couple from Manhattan and their infant son watched in awe as the parade passed. "We are blown away, this could never happen in New York City," said Debbie. "We are shocked by how friendly the police are."

Scarborough resident Dan Hook, 44, said he's been smoking weed for 30 years. "I have come to realize the returns of the spiritual side of smoking. Bob Marley knew it and I'm learning it," he said.

Peter Young of the London Compassion Society, a medical marijuana resource facility, said his society distributes medical marijuana to doctor-approved patients. Cancer and AIDS patients use it to help manage pain and reduce nausea, he said.

High-quality marijuana is expensive and available only through illegal sources due to prohibition, he said. That often puts the medicinal benefits of marijuana out of the reach of people who need it, he added.
