The way people view marijuana in your area, & what's the tokers culture like?
    #10016922 -

So i want to talk about how marijuana is viewed in your area, and what the "weed" culture is like in your parts....

I live in northern California and must say i really often forget that this stuff is still illegal. I don't hesitate to spark up just about anywhere when i am outside. Of course i am not going to walk into a park around a bunch of little kids and light up a J. But when i go on a walk through my neighborhood sometimes it's nice to have a toke. I am not worried about cops since it has been decriminalized in my parts, even if they realized what i was smoking was weed the worse they could possibly do is a ticket...Maybe intoxicated in public but i doubt any cop around here is even going to bother. If people have a problem or something to say to me about it, let them. I could care less, sure it is illegal, but really!?...You're going to give me shit for peacefully smoking my herb, while you have that nasty pack of cancer in your pocket one ready to go in your lips and you just saw that guy with a 1/5th of jack in a bag...I mean to each his own , but don't put me on blast.

I know it can't be true, but it does seem like everyone around here smokes...I'm surprise when i hear about someone that doesn't smoke than i am finding out they do. Taking a walk or drive across town and you are bound to smell the aroma of bud wafting in the air especially on weekends or evenings, from somebody toking or someones grow. When ever i am inline at a gas station I always start a conversation with a fellow toker when i see someone in front of me buying a swisher, i have yet to run into someone that is just buying them to smoke. Haha, in fact there is this one convenient store i go to where the guy cuts the blunt for you if want...he knows what's up. There was this one time i was at a walk up ATM, this one cute girl was walking up as me and my friends were leaving, we sparked up a conversation and within a minute into it she asked us all if we wanted to meet up with her later and match. About 5 minutes after this we were getting some Wendy's, this girl pulls up next to us and says "This may be a little random but do any of you have some weed you could sell me?"...Sure as hell my friend that sells was with us and sold her a dub right there....

Speaking of dealers, when i hear others on here talking about their dealer it always sounds like some random ass shady weird dude. And that they're the only source they have...Majority of the people i buy through are friends, or friends of friends. Really so many people around here sell, i can be in any part of town and only be a block or so away from someone i know to get bud.

Anyway, this thread sorta turned into a ramble....It's just i hear people on here talking about getting paranoid even smoking in their house if the windows are open. Or how there are times when you can't find bud. Or getting busted by the police for simple shit. Makes me kinda scurred to leave this state...Wanted to know what it's like in your parts....

I live in Denver.  I have never ever had a problem.  And neither have my friends.  But we're also smart about it.  We smoke at eachothers house, stay away from driviing and we live in the downtown area so a walk isn't a bitch at all...

It's diverse here. You have a very large crossection of people who will light up on a city street and people who noid out completely.

Punks, hippies, metalheads, rednecks, suits, etc. Everyone blazes.

i dont think the majority of people in north Calli realize how lucky they are. I live in dothan, AL and the 'good' herb you get here, you'd probably have trouble giving away over there. the people you buy from almost always are shady, they make most their money from crack, and a dime isnt a dime its a nickle.  from the people i know, smoking from a pipe is unheard of, and your compared to the crack heads if you do.  On top of all that, the police think they rule the world (well they do) but they hassle me just for walkin' down the road, in the middle of the day, just mindin' my own bussiness, but thats just because i dont look quite the same as the rest of all the mindless cop-cuddlers around here.
But im on probation and currently not smoking, so.. yea whatever.
PS.suberbansmoker sorry to hear that.StayStongSon :popeye:

My bro was alegedly caught with a plant. Given the police response you would have thought he killed someone. I live in coastal Georgia area. The atmosphere for weed smokin is very bad. To many crusader religous types here. GA will probably be the last place to get a medical/decrim law.

Very low key around my parts (northern MI). You only deal with people you know really well so its a pretty close knit bunch, mainly because the cops are ridiculous and have nothing better to do than bust kids for pot.
There is a pretty diverse group of tokers up here. you have the young stoner types(hippie, farmer, thugs, metal heads, politically active, jock) also the old stoner type (hippie, biker, red neck, or just your avreage joe type) Basically all the groups of people have their stoners.
But weed is usually looked down upon amongst the general population.

In the PnW it's pretty similar to Northern Cali.  Nobody really cares, the cops are a little strict in big cities with intoxicated drivers, but other than that really lax.  When I go to parties pulling out a joint or going for a smoke is just like having a cigarette except everybody is a lot more excited and wants to share in.

Sometimes people get freaked out about their kids knowing they smoke weed, which perturbs me when they smoke cigarettes right in front of them nonchalantly.  I think it's more of an image issue, where there is just too much stigma around weed so they try not to associate with it even though they use it, thus creating a further vindictive stigma cycle.

Also, I do find that with avid smokers that partake multiple times a day and don't get out much because of it, they still get viewed as wasting their lives away or unhealthy.  Our society is not set up for a fair contribution to reward, so you can't knock somebody doing whatever they damn right please, but I still would advocate moderation in every circumstance.

I'm consistently amazed at how much compassion there is for weed out West.  My friend just got arrested for smoking a joint in Fort Lauderdale, and having .5 grams and getting slapped with 2 misdemeanors for a resin filled pipe.  It's remarkable how in the same country it can be viewed as a hard drug and threat while at the same time being viewed as a valuable commodity, medicine and personal freedom.

I live in the SF Peninsula, and it's not rare for me to see some guy smoking a blunt at a playground in the middle of the day.

At the play ground? Come guys... seriously thats why cops still bust stoners, their dumb enough to smoke it in public, their dumb enough to get caught. Smoking on ur porch is okay. In years to come marijuana will be very excepted, but thats when all the generations of the haters die. Thats in about 20 years...

That's some risky business trying that over there. Here in the Bay, no one really gives a shit unless you basically announce it to the world.

Yeah the cops around here really piss me off, but I can still get away with walking down the sidewalk smoking a one hitter disguised as a cigarette if there aren't too many people around (usually at night).
