Fruiting chamber question
    #999758 - 10/28/02 11:00 AM (21 years, 11 months ago)

Ok.. here is my setup, I have a 10 gallon aquarium, bottom is filled w/ 1 inch layer of verm ,and 2 inches of perlite.. i have 8 cakes on 8 lids, the humidity ranges from 93-97%. I have a 5 gallon air pump feeding oxygen into the chamber... I left for college and I have somebody else caring for my lil' guys. When I left, I left the air pump on (so its going 24/7)... Now, is it bad for the air pump to be going on 24/7? Would it produce better or worse results?

See it would be better if it was pumping in humid air, like a cool-mist!

But, it depends on how much air is going in. Is it a fish tank pump? If so, those work ok.

A simple step would to run it into a jug of water...make it a warm jug of water, and that will create more humid air.

Verm layer is not needed. Humidity for cakes is +95% Rh. 24/7 for pump is ok.
You should be ok, keep it going.
