Just trying to bring some light to the situation :suicide:

It's interesting as I grow older, there's stuff that I don't like now, such as really loud and violent movies, that I most likely would have back in the day. And that's part of the weird process of growing older.

On the other hand, I have a great pallet for both wine and top notch beer, I have a great family, hardly any drama, and so on, so there are trade offs. Back in the day, I would have called this a "boring life".

I really want to see this, but I have a feeling I won't like it either.

And I KNOW I don't suck at life.

I recommend not reading the whole comic before you see the movie.  Read like the first 3 comics to get a basic feel for the story line.  Then let the movie keep you in suspense for the ending.

That's what I did and it was EPIC

No.

why not

The graphic novel is better than the movie. Wrap your head around that. You kinda ruined it by watching the movie before finishing the graphic novel.

I promise you, the graphic novel has more depth and is more entertaining than the movie is. They tried, and could not make it work. I will not lie to you though! While the movie had some extremely entertaining parts, and was nice to look at (at the very least, I'll give it that much), Zack Snyder < Alan Moore. Now I fully understand Moore's caustic and bitter attitude towards film adaptations of his works.

They portrayed some characters incorrectly at times (Rorshach for instance) and completely missed the point in some cases, even with Snyder's love of doing certain scenes as is, lifted directly from the graphic novel line by line. There's more exposition, more depth, a better pacing, and more poignant scenes in the graphic novel.

Watchmen couldn't translate successfully after all. I have mixed feelings about it because I like the graphic novel so much and some scenes were perfect (Rorshach in the prison lunch line), but meh.

I haven't read watchmen, and I haven't seen the movie, but I have never seen a movie that was based on a book I had read that I was anywhere near happy with.

I dont bother with movies anymore.  Ive decided they are generally terrible and not worth the 10 dollars it costs now a days.  The comic was amazing however.

You mean you don't bother with theater-going, or films in general?

I thought the martial arts in Watchmen were great as well.  Especially Ozymandias.  Was better than the matrix imo

i just saw the watchmen and it was awesome. Rorschach was definitely my favorite he kicked so much ass. i dont really get the plot though. supposedly killing all those people was supposed to create peace in the world but how does that guy ever expect it to last. eventually the world will start to fight again.

Because the Russians were afraid of Dr.Manhattan or something.  And Adrian made it look like t Dr. Manhattan nuked America, therefore the result was peace with the Russia.

I don't really get it either

Good movie, not great. My main quarrel was that I went with my friends who hadn't read the book and they had no idea what happened. While watching it I thought the same, it was true to the story, but over the head of anyone who hadn't read it. I also didn't understand why they put all the cheese into it, do we really need commercial songs playing throughout it? I'd give it an 8/10, awarding 300 a higher score.

I think the ending is the only part that is hard to understand though.  I only read the first 2 comics, but I still got the general idea of it.  You're right about the music though, they fucked up on that part.

I disagree, even Dr.Manhattan is left unexplained until the later portion of the movie, leaving people to ask, whose this blue guy? Like I said, good movie, but it could have been done better. I think Rorshack and the Comedian were done perfectly, Dr.Manhattan needed a lot more dialogue and shows of power.
