The point is exactly the same; uniting the world through disaster and a common enemy. I liked the movie ending more, but they're pretty much the same thing, the movie ending is just slightly less bizarre and more believable.

they didn't barely change the ending. the original was great

it was a big change for me too and they took out the stuff about all the artists, scientists and such being taken to the island to create that ending

I liked the addaptation of V for Vendetta better
