:lol:  Compete with someone from the state that imports 600,000 people a year to hunt morels?  I don't compete for anything and if I did it wouldn't be this thread.

You guys win by default I'd say.

I think this thread is a good competition thread though.  I'm sure you'll kick everyone else's ass.

Damn, that's a monster.  Too bad you didn't get a photo of it with the scorpion.  That would rock.  What do you call that?  elata or augusticeps?

Trigger didn't say whether this was by single weight, height or pounds of a picking.  I assumed the latter.

If it's a large specimen contest I'll enter if I find one.  That's a big IF around here.

1st place goes to the voted most beautiful overall pic of morel

2nd goes to larges size, width x hight

3rd goes to the biggest bulk!

how strange
what those circles for?

the rocks in the pictures are what i believe to be an ancient fishery, some locals say its a burial ground, a map perhaps for aliens, (just too many cornfields around), the university of Mich did some testing and mapping of the rock formations, it came up inconclusive. there are rock paths leading hundreds of feet, small to large circles everywhere, its very interesting. i tried to map it out and did some homework. the location near lake Huron, 200-2000 years ago natives had lived in the area, 1000 years ago the shoreline would have be about where the rock formations now. my thoughts were the rock paths led to the circles full of fish that the natives netted to have a fish supply year around.

a magical place full of energy, i collect artifacts and many other magical things from the relatively unknown area.

Do you guys think it would be worth the drive from central Indiana to Michigan for hunting(later in the season of course)? Would I find that much more morels a state away?

i was in Indiana and found many morels,  only passing though at the right time i guess, every single morel i found there was covered in bugs. the thing is i have seen many people drive hundreds of miles to the local morel festivals and get quite disappointed, "its all within a spot".

i invite any kind person to come hunt with me,,or at least ill show ya a spot that i can guarantee morels to grow, but then again i have to wait for the season to begin first.

how long untill the winner is crowned i live in wisconsin and the morels wont be in my back yard for at least a month if they show up at all they have been there for 4 or 5 years and i rue the year they are no more

nice morel i find hundreds each year and am waiting this year it'll only be 1-2 weeks before the start where i'm at! where do you hunt in the shasta trinity? not exact of course but what general location? cuz i live in trinity county.

Last years find.It's no prize winner but it's the biggest morel I've found so far.

Found this guy growing out of a sand bar along a large rocky stream.
