Common misconception. They can last the same amount of time without an upgrade. The difference being that with a pc, you can upgrade it after a few years if you really want to keep up with the latest technology and games, but with a console you are pretty much stuck until a new one comes out - in the mean time developers have to make their games work with the console specs that are available by decreasing graphical settings(which you can do with pc's too, only you would be the one in control).

I was a pc gamer for a while, and said Id never buy a console again. Then I was offered a PS3 for $200. I wont look back again. Im an exclusive online player, and with the pc, you had to use a voip other than what the game provided, cuz they usually sucked. Then, you would have glitches in the game fuckin with ya here and there, or punkbuster being a....punk. Also, there is the competition factor, where guys are only kickin your ass because you havent spent $600 on a couple of the new video cards or quadcore and cant see the pixel of light that is the glint of a scope 500 yards away. Everything is level on the console battlefield. THEN, you have the hackers. Using aim bots, or programs that let you see through buildings and shit. To each their own, Ill stick to my PS3.
