about 31k in the bank, another 15k in govt bonds

the mother lode though is a monster beachfront family vacation home i've very recently inherited (being the last of that family line) after my uncle drank himself to death - selling it should reap over $1 million so everything else is chickenshit by comparison

I wanna know what the fuck everyone does who has over 5K in the bank...

I make 12.50 an hour as a maintenance dude at a fancy apartment complex 40 hrs a week

I pay $600 a month rent, cable/internet like $100 a month utilities.... $60/month gas $250 a month food.....

My shit is paycheck to paycheck... lucky if I've got $200 left before my next check

And I make more per hour than most cashier/retail positions in this area... almost making as much as any other skilled trade considering the housing market and nobody having any work...

I mean, are there really a bunch of fucking hippies on here making 60K a year?

I run a business. Thats how i make my money. Sometimes you just gotta quit the drugs and devote your life to work before you can get in a comfortable spot. Thats what i had to do. I worked offshore till i got my startup cash. It was a pain in the ass but it was worth it. Why dont you move out of that expensive ass apartment? or maybe look for a different job. If your a maintenance man then you gotta be somewhat skilled am i right? put in some apps and wait for your call man. it will come. Just advice. take it or leave it. Now that im established i can go smoke in my office at my shop and even show up late. I'm not hurting anybody but myself.

I'm down to about 52k from 96k in my portfolio, 9k in checking, and have paid off 120k on my house. still have 167k to pay on my mortgage so i'm in debt but stable. I live on a small budget and I have a good income.

You can save almost all of your wages if you don't spend the money.

Live in your car or a tent etc
Eat only cheap food
Don't buy shit

Thats how I saved all my money.  I saved 20k in 3 years and still spent lots of my wages.

This is where hippies have the advantage, we know how to live for free so if we do work we can save most of it if we want.

There are some normal people who are old enough to have regular salaried jobs here.

I got my money through an inheritance of sorts.
