Shiitake

I just received a beatiful culture plate yesterday of Lentinula edodes (shiitake). I am going to be starting a project whit it tomorrow. If anyone is intersted in a few wedges just let me know and i would more than happy to do so. Also i will be keeping you updated on my progress.............peace

I'd be really interested in your results. I cloned me a shittake culture the other day and I'm waiting to try it out. I was planning on innoculating a PC'ed oven bag of beech sawdust, then fruiting it like a cake when it's done.

There aren't many comprehensive gourmet grow logs around, I think they would be really benifical to those attempting to grow these.

Shiitake is definitely something more people would like to grow, if only they had decent grow logs.

Zildjian: you'll want to produce about a 6-7lb block....do make sure the mycelial network is mature before trying to fruit! Be patient, things can take a while....

Im thinking of doing block, Plus i got copius amounts of dowel(5000 to be exact) so i think im going to go out and innoculater some logs around my area when the time is right............peace

PS if anyone need some dowels PM me and we could arrange something
