Mexicana Poppy Seedlings: Eaten By A Purpertrator.

Well, i had three poppy seedlings happily growing
IN a flower-pot, Outside..

Yesterday two of them I noticed had mysterious disappeared..
Vanished..into thin air..

There was still one in there today,
But I just noticed tonight..the last Poppy..is gone..
The purpertrator seemed to have left behind one of the small leaves..uneaten..

I am pointing my finger towards the lizards..
Those little fast gecko bastards..

Anne says that lizards don't eat plants though..

I guess that the seedlings must be started indoors first
Until they are large enough to not be eaten by purpatrators..

But, What is eating my Poppies..?
-If I catch the purpatrator(s) of this dasterly crime..
There Will in fact be Hell to pay.. hehehe..

lol, perhaps your junkie neighbor is stealing it... :wink:
around here snails and caterpillars sometimes run small bushes or whatever is in their way... a poppy seedling isn't even an appetizer for them! i think lizards or geckos eat insects...
take a look out in the middle of the night and see what goes on in your backyard... there's plenty of action and life at nighttime. good luck for your plants...

It wasn't the lizards, they eat bugs. My guess would be that the bugs ate your plants.

Try more than three seedlings next time. Three is not nearly enough. Grow more and thin them out later.

I have 7 beds at home full, FULL.
and half of those won`t even make it.
They are very fussy, very fussy.
Like I say GG, I have millions, iterally millions growing.
When they mature it normally takes me 1-2 hours to slit and another 3 to harvest.
Pot plants as well don`t work for poppies.
They need space and they need to be in the ground.
And you need to plant loads more.

And you need to water them everyday and it needs to be religiously done.
Thinning helps as well but you`ll find the stronger poppies will overpower the smaller ones anyway.

My point being, there will firstly not be enoughbulbs to even get you high or for that matter they won`t survive unless you really baby them.

Sorry about your plants. I had a small red wood id been growing for for years stolen. A neighbor reported that a landscaper had pullt it out of the pot.

Most likely slugs or snails, only they can eat poppies that fast...or people, but I highly doubt anyone would bother with stealing your seedlings even if they knew what they were...try some slug bait, or a little beer in a bowl...they love it and drown in the bowl once they are drunk.
