Select doesn't stop or start any patterns on my ancient PSX. It does stop my cd, though. Yay.------------------ Hi. I have nothing of interest to say.

Hmm, actually I was having problems with it for a few minutes then I hit select once the cd was playing and I got it to work. I just recently got my Playstation so if yours is old then no there probably isn't a difference. Keep trying ! it's cool!

Hey Rev actually I think only the older versions of play station has this and it is really cool. I'm not sure why but some of the new ones don't do this.

I did not reply to this message because I knew about the option. But getting bored I decided to read the post and wanted to clear up the confusion. As far as I know the 5th remake started to include the visual effects. The older playstations do not have this feature. (Build 1+2 can be identified by AV jackes built into the PS. Build 3+4 are versions that have a special cable to connect to the television monitor) Generation 5 started to have this feature. And were the system included the dual shock controler standard. If you have a older playstation you still have some advantages to the newer generation. Build 1 could play coppied games with out a mod chip. Just start the system and go to the CD player. Put in the copy and press play. It sould boot up the CD. There may be more but, I don't know for shure. 2-5 also can play copied cd's but require a mod chip. Be carefull installing it. You could Fuck up your System. 6 and on they start preventing the installation of the system with the introduction of a metal plate. Hope this clears up some things. Another note: It is about less then a year untill the release of the Playstation 2. And the pictures are sweet!!! Its black! ------------------ I am the Golden Dragon. Hear my roar. Feal my flame. I want the trippy action. Is there anything else anyone knows about that has a music sensitive visual effect? I have a screen saver but I would want something in my living room damnit. ------------------ "HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE CRAZY? AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE RULES? Thanks for posting the tip. My Playstation has this feature and I was unaware of it. Mine is a newer model without the port on the back where you can insert a gameshark.

Ok I just want to clarify this a little bit. The playstation you have will have a model number on the underside, on a black sticker. Looking at it you'll see something like 'SCPH-xxxx' where the x's are the model number... the models will make almost no difference to most of you, they just signify the use of newer (smaller) motherboards and other internal parts...1001 - the first playstations. most of these are probably dead by now, the quality of the part was pretty bad .5001 - second generation.. .5501 .7001 - the 7000 series is the first to have the visualisation software for music cds, while japanese models have had it since it came into production (if i remember correctly) .7501 .9001 - these are different because there's no serial port and hence you have to use a mod-chip as opposed to a plug. unless you install a serial port yourself. there's probably another model number for the portable psx's which are coming out soon, but that's the basic difference between them.
