Hey guys...

So this is pretty nuts, but I just talked to her and she just woke up. Uh... I let her know that I just didn't want us to keep hurting each other anymore, that we were both really creative and bright people that have futures, that I felt like our relationship has been stifling one another, that I didn't want to drive her crazy, that if we were to end it, it would be better if it were on good terms and not while we were yelling and angry at each other...

and she was more reasonable than she has ever been. She agreed completely, although she seemed shocked. I was kind of shocked too though, its tough to talk about. Neither of us know really how to handle the world alone right now, we're in a very sensitive position in our life.

........so what does this mean?

Thats good that you've talked about it, now its out there. you should leave it for a couple of days and maybe have some distance and then see how you both feel.

So listen to this shit, guys. Its valentines day. My wife and I had an argument last night, but its over... Anyway, come to find out, today... she didn't get a card, she didn't get any sort of gift, she's telling me "our relationship has been kind of terrible lately" and that she doesn't want to go on this picnic, and instead wants to play WOW because she promised her friends she'd do a 10 man raid. We already had the picnic planned, but this whole da so far has been a spit in my face sort of day.

WTF?

That really sucks, sorry to hear about it. My ex started acting the same way toward the end. No birthday or Valentine cards stuff like that. All of a sudden her friends were more important started going out and not coming home. Came home all fucked up. After I was moved out I went to pick up a coat I had left there and she had some guy staying there, 3 days after I was gone.
I had 9 years invested in that relationship, raised her son from 5-14 Yrs old. I was a mess for quite a while. Not to say your wife is cheating but the signs sound similar. Mine swore up and down she wasn't, turned out to be lies. I have never cheated, know how bad it hurts and wouldn't put some one through that bullshit. You've got 3 years invested, no kids and if you don't own the place you are living it should be easy if you decide to throw in the towel. It's definitely going to hurt emotionally. I'm still single after 3 years but I'm happy without all the stress. I bought a house and don't have to worry about someone getting half of all I own. I'm still looking for a girlfriend but I know what i don't want in a relationship. Good luck and sorry to hear you are having a shitty V-day.

I am sorry to hear about your trouble. Relationship problems are the worst. No matter waht happens though, will happen for a reason. Your story is one that I can relate some parts with my relationship with my girl. Acouple of years ago, we would get in fights like you described. She'd over-react, get physical, and I being non-violent would be forced to physically restrain her. We arent married, though we've been living together for 6 years. Those were rough times, although we worked through them.

As far as getting divorced, you need to dig deep, be honest, and make a decision that is not reactionary. Don't do anything rash or spur of the moment. Good luck, and I hope things work out for the best.

BTW, how old are you and the Mrs.?

This is good, be sure to keep things civil. And I would mention the video game being the main problem.

Just don't do anything rash. Don't get a divorce as the first step. Take a week break or so maybe where you live separated. Perhaps she and you will then realize that you love having the other one. A little hardship can bring relationships back into focus

Sorry, but it sounds to me like she met someone in WoW and has been fantasizing for some time about running off with them.

I hope she's just addicted, and that a good shake-up or break-up can help her straighten her shit out... but considering how unpredictably her reactions have been, I wouldn't be surprised if she has an orc on the side...

Hi supernovasky,

I'm so sorry that you are going through these troubles. Relationships can cause so much pain, even those that are stable and long-lasting.

You're being such a strong person, and a good person, by opening the discussion. I can feel your love for your wife over the computer. You are clearly a decent, kind, gentle, and loving person. Just continue to keep the conversation alive. It will help both of you, whether it means you divorce, or whether it means you continue to find ways to make it work.

I was divorced many years ago now, and we took a similar path - talking, talking, being kind and gentle, talking. We're great friends now. My ex remarried, and I was even his "Best Man" (I'm a woman, but he wanted me to stand up for him.) I'm great friends with his wife, too. I just wanted to let you know that the path of kindness is possible, even when the situation feels helpless and full of pain.

Much love to you today
