Outdoor Cultivators BEWARE!

      I had a bed of mushrooms growing in a 1x2 ft. hole under a tree.  It was perfect under a plywood lid, and that covered with a patch of grass to diguise it.  We've been getting lots of rain lately and I had about two dozen mushrrom sprouts coming up out of my fresh cow dung base in the bottom which had a few dry leaves and some straw covering it. 

Now I am EXTREMELY angry.  I went to check on them today, and every single last mushroom was gone!  What do I find in thier place?  Two fat as hell, unable to crawl slugs!  I had no idea those little shits ate mushrooms.  They cleaned me out and ate every last one.  I am so disapointed after a month's worth of work and careful waterings and such. 

Now it is almost November, and too cold to try and grow another batch.  I guess I am going to have to look into ordering some supplies now and try to get an indoor setup going if I want any hope of getting things done right.  If you decide to try outdoor first like me, line the rim of your patch with salt or something to keep those damned slugs away.  I learned the hard way.  :frown:

That's nasty man! I feel really sorry for you.
But there's nothing to do, just hope your indoor set will give you good yields.

but i suppose Nature preferred to let those slugs live than you trip. Its Her will. Accept it, shit happens.

What precaution measures can you take to prevent this? I wonder...

"eat the slugs."  lmao, that's a good one.  I can imagine checking on your patch to find a couple of slugs all bloated and trippin their asses off.  Sux for you, but you gotta admit it's kinda funny.  Put some salt on them slugs and eat em...  and you thought the mushrooms tasted bad  :grin:
