Herbs, supplements and organic food to be banned ?
    #9797078 -

Organic food and raw food as well as food-based supplements such as spirulina and all herbal drugs (ie real medicine) are to be made illegal on earth - oh and vitamin supplements are to be controlled to the point of ineffectiveness .

Who knows what I'm talking about ? - and who is ready to kick these assholes's  asses so we can actually be healthy and experience bliss ?

This has been covered before.

Codex alimentarius is a proposed set of regulatory standards for foods and food additives.  Its not outlawing anything.  Rather, its making sure that manufacturers meet minimum safety standards before selling their snake oil and fairy tales to consumers.

From what I understand, member countries are not required to adopt the standards, hence the idea it's not mandatory. But if the country you live in decided to adopt the standards, it could outlaw a good bit.

The reference to vitamin/minerals being reclassifyed, it has already been protested out of existance. Good work. But those guys will keep trying.

I think there's a lot of snake oil out there, but at the same time, if herbs are to be reclassifyed, that's more than just a bit bogus. The Pharm companies derive many of their formulas from naturally occuring substances, and to create blanket laws regarding the production and distribution of such products, which result in all but the large producers going out of business, is really just a control scheme, and has nothing to do with "health intrest".

I'm a live and let die kinda guy anyway. People sell, and people buy. If something is to be outlawed, I want proof it's highly dangerous. I don't want monkeys with stiff necks telling me how to live my life at gunpoint.

I agree, but its a double standard to regulate big pharma, yet allow millions of dollars in sales of "eye of newt" to new age hippies.

Why attach this meaning to the capital or exchange; when health is the actual concern at hand? What do you care if "eye of the newt" is available to others? Is it because you are looking out for our personal safety/interest? Well gee wiz...

As much as I abhor big pharma, it has nothing to do with the personal freedom of someone to consider their own health by their own intuition. I don't care how people pop their pills, it has nothing to do with me.

What I hate about big pharma, is the parallel it has drawn to what I do; that is, creating a single standard of health. As it happens, when these people fuck themselves up on these synthetic creations, they will naturally use the same synthetic approach in the humane realm, in terms of regulation. Rather than regulating their approach to these substances, they regulate the actual substance, a habit acquired from creating these substances in the first place. This philosophy is in utter contempt of personal responsibility - tweak the substance, not the approach.

Spinoza said that substance is God. If this is true, an absolutist approach to substance and health, this substantial/synthetic focus, is nothing more than another religion:

Substances are catagorized as good or bad, and this is imposed on everyone. Does this sound familiar? This "science" is really just a sensational faith in substance.

With that said, I often find the information from the consensual standard as useful in my own health. But that doesn't mean it should be imposed. People need to keep their fucking fetishes to themselves.

If this is the case, I'm sure you'll have no problem showing me the text in the law which will outlaw them.

Because millions of people ingesting massive amounts of "eye of newt" may begin to affect me.  I'm looking out for the interests of the masses, which include me.

Thats what I figured. An appeal to normalcy is if anything reasonable.

But considering where we are speaking, how do you make terms with the most exemplary "eye of the newt"; psychedelics?

I mean, as to your criteria, how do you contend with folks like Charlie Manson, without seeming hypocritical?

Meh, damned if I know.  In my overly simplistic opinion: a lot of rules/laws/norms within any society are arbitrarily determined.  You can abide by them, attempt to change them, or leave.

With respect to Codex Alimentarius (and food and medications in general) I am in favor of establishing minimum guidelines for safety and mass consumption.

Well I can agree and appreciate a consensual approach to safety guidelines, but barring what you've said about integrated effects, I don't understand why this needs to be imposed on us.

Absurd as it is, I think a decent model is how the FDA has gone about presenting the dangers of alcohol and cigarettes. Finally we have the acknowledged right to fuck ourselves up.

On the other hand, it is actually that literal. You might notice that there is no nutritional information on alcohol, besides the warning label. Its almost to say, 'well since its agreed that you're hopeless, you probably wouldn't care about any nutritional content. Enjoy the beverage, and we'll see you in hell.' - Your sincere winemakers.

Alcohol is our government sanctioned "negativity", but this could naturally apply to plenty of other substances that are at the moment presented as nil instead of negative.

So I am not against a consensual, or collective approach. What we need as our consensus though is just to have both these "warnings", and the "nutritional data presented" as one rather than separately; a separation between good and bad substances either instituted or sanctioned by law.

Why should we protect people from making bad investments in health products? They should know what really makes them healthy. It turns out most of the time that eating clean, organic foods and having a "health regime" is the most people need for getting healthy. People need to learn that health is not about buying supplements but making due with what is while striving for improvement in the subtlest of aspects. You can't just buy shit on a whim and excpect it to work just because someone said it would. And nobody should have to do without natural, whole foods and herbs just because some people feel like it needs regulation. People are just weird about this shit:shrug:

Agreed.  One of the first steps towards this, is standardizing and identifying the products we consume.  I believe this is one of the goals of Codex.  An herb from one manufacturer, should be the same as all the others so when you buy it, you know what you are getting and the risks of taking it.

Because other people can end up paying for someone's bad health investments.

id prefer to leave it up to the people.  most people can make a sound judgement when it comes to food that is safe and not safe.  watching the travel channel and some of the traveling food shows, ive seen TONS of stuff that isnt allowed here in the states but is around most of the world, people are fine, people eat this shit without consequence 99% of the time and theyre still good and healthy.

let people govern their own decisions as far as what is safe to eat and what is not.  go after unhealthy places selling shit that get people sick repeatedly, but leave the rest alone.  if i can go out and buy a pack of cigarettes and knowingly and willingly hurt myself, then why can i not do the same with food?  or at least take a chance?

WORD

People are people.  And people don't always make the best decisions.  One can't be mad/disappointed in them for not living up to one's own standards.  People are like puppies.  They shit on the carpet because they don't know any better.  If you get what I mean.
