Danger of tripping involving Kundalini?
    #9742745 -

I became spiritually conscious while tripping on LSD a few months ago. In this time I've started practicing Hatha yoga and meditation to reach a deeper understanding and higher level of consciousness. I've read about Kundalini and the process of awakening it to reach enlightenment. I'm not practicing Kundalini yoga, I'm happy enough doing what I'm doing right now. The question I have is, if I trip again will I be in danger of raising Kundalini to a level that I'm not ready for, both during the trip and subsequently anytime after? Let me know what you guys think, I greatly appreciate your advice.

I think it can happen but not very often. I am not sure. There isn't a whole lot of info on that subject.

Ive actually heard of some Monks who were givin LSD to see if they could reach a higher point of consciousness. Apparently they agreed that LSD does give one a higher state of consciousness, however they were stuck at that state, and were able to go much higher without LSD through meditation. My friend has the article but i caint find it.

You sound fearful, don't be. Also, englightenment is not something that can be reached, but a continuing process.

Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities - the political, the religious, the educational authorities - who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing - forming in our minds - their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself.

I agree with that idea. I believe LSD to be a tool for those of us wanting to achieve that higher consciousness, but at a certain point it can only take you so far, and thus you must journey on...

I know there is nothing to fear but I was quite unsettled when I read some of the experiences people have had involving Kundalini. I'm only 19; I know I have much to learn about everything. I trust in time the whole picture will become more clear. I've made the decision to stop using hallucinogens. They've helped me open my eyes to much and are the reason why I am where I am today. Now that I'm on the path I was looking for I feel I don't need these drugs anymore. Thanks guys for your input, I truly appreciate it.

Kundalini is just another term for life energy. In meditation one can utilize a mantra to awaken a certain aspect of their being. Mantras should be spoken aloud yet spoken softly in a whisper. The reason a mantra awakens a certain part of ones being is because different tones correspond to corresponding levels of awareness, the mantra is a word that manifests in the form of sound a particular level of awareness. Hence by repeating the sound softly to oneself one awakens the level of awareness that is associated with that mantra. Thus the mantra is a trance inducing thing. One can raise ones kundalini by raising ones level awareness by saying a mantra in meditation that awakens a level of awareness that is of a high nature. A person should only use one mantra(or maybe two)during the course of a few months or few years(or even many many years), and then if one likes one can change it after a somewhat long length of time. The reason for this is that if a person uses many different types of mantras within a short amount of time that will possibly result their energy to become imbalanced and the result of that is that their thinking may become confused. In order to empower the meditative experience one should avoid sexual activity, this is called brahmacharya. When a person, this applies to both males and females, experiences the sexual orgasm they lose energy. This energy is called veerya. So by avoiding the orgasm one preserves energy that can be used in meditation. The energy preserved by avoiding orgasm can also be utilized for the purpose of physical fitness. Ideally a human being ought to have a sexual orgasm only for the purpose of procreation. So I do not advocate that people avoid sexual activity completely. However I do advocate that people engage in sexual activity only for procreation, I say this because procreation is important. However if that is too strict then just keep in mind that the less sexual activity that a person engages in the better. The terms I used in this posting that are not native to the english language are sanskrit terms.

Having sex often is healthy for you, promotes cardiovascular effect, boosts the immune system, and leads to happy, enriched lives.

We live in the modern age, and can use condoms now to enjoy a loving bond with our partner without worrying about bringing in more mouths to feed in this age of upcoming over population.  :nonono:

I'm sorry, but I think you're full of shit.
I have sex plenty and I meditate and feel great.
Maybe I'm just doing it wrong?

And maybe I'll never become enlightened now?

Ascetic practice seems to get a bum rap around here lots of the time.

I don't understand why this has to always be seen in black and white. In my experience, there is little doubt that brahmachayra can be "used" as a substantial tool. This doesn't mean that sex is bad; but obviously if you want to use this tool, you've got to take certain measures. I think people often confuse this basic meditation or method, with what other sects have focused upon through shame, and so they are reactionary to these ideas.

In a sense, it is counter-intuitive to express it as a positive method or tool though, first, because it is ordinarily misconceived as a negation of the "natural" run of things, which is being positively driven by sex day to day (hence the previously mentioned reactivity). Ideally it is neither positive or negative.

Not having sex is nothing, just like sitting meditation is nothing. For instance, in the same way, you could easily say it is natural to exist without the hinderence and ascetic nature of discipline, as opposed to sitting and meditating. So sitting is easily conceived as negation of normal activity/function too.

In both practices, it is preached as ideal to transcend these dualisms, but neither can be expressed as an end to this mean.

Ram Dass says something like that in Be Near How. It's all lower astral.

I suspect that human subtle energy systems are 'starseeds' that can be 'launched'.

Tripping certainly unlocks levels of awareness that were before inaccessible to ones consciousness. And also, like you said, if one is unaware of other systems of philosophy besides the one their school teachers taught them in psychology 101, they will most likely have problems when their energy starts to raise up into higher centers and thus develop "mental illnesses". But kundalini is not just about energy, it is also about moving your spinal fluid up through each vertebrae and into to your brain for a "natural high" so to say. So I doubt LSD by itself can fully raise the kundalini, though I don't doubt that it could start the process, and probably even accentuate kundalini yoga, or kung fu, or any other form of excercise specifically developed to regulate life energy.
