Got myself a nice 20 yr old scotch tonite. Relaxin with a nice drink on the rocks. Anybody else enjoyin any refreshing beverages this evening?

JW Red is nasty IMO. Keith Distillers private stock is he best. Only found it in one place around here well worth the money spent 47.50$ for a 375.

On my 5th beer at the moment; all be it not as fancy as Scotch its locally brewed and surprisingly expensive for being so. It hits the spot however! :grin:

My friend had a bottle of scotch from 1976 and actually opened it... and actually opened it.
After a brief lecture of the importance of preservation, culture and TIMING (a 32 year old bottle of scotch should not be opened for you and your booze buddies on a regular Friday night) I tasted some, and it was probably the best liquor I've ever experienced... had a warming affect unlike any other dark liquor I've had.

I like 21 year old scotch, but I usually buy French Cognac.

Also, poster...  I wont tell you how to drink and drink, to each his own as they say, but scotch, cognac and Brandy are, according to international historic etiquette, supposed to be drank from either a cognac snifter, a scotch glass, or a Brandy glass, and should never, regardless of what popular misconceptions movies and bars produce, be consumed with ice.
Holding the bottom of the snifter warms the cognac/scotch/brandy and releases the fragrance of the drink... try it at room temp.

My first drink is always without ice in a snifter. But about yer friend.....man o man. no way i would open that for just any old friday night...cant believe that but some people just dont appreciate things like they should. hopefully he didnt guzzle it all down that night.

Yeah, he drank a lot of it... I couldn't drink more than 2 shots worth in a glass, I just couldn't bring myself to drink that kind of liquor in that manner.
You gotta have an appreciation for things, and I do, and I try to keep up tradition and culture with many of things like that.

Im tossing back some jim beam tonigh, but the van winkle you mentioned in the first post is some good shit. i love it and would drink it almost exclusivly if it didnt cost so damn much. Have a good one, i know i am.

Scotch is my favorite liquor but I dont drink it often cause I usually dont have the money for the good stuff.

Right now I have a bottle of spayburn, a 10 year old highland single barrel, which was the best stuff I could find for 30 bucks, and its not bad at all.

I laike me some Kentuucky bourbon, when I drink that is... I get cheap old Jimmy and Evan, but for some reason jack doesn't hit the spot for me. If I'm broke, I just buy Seagram 7, which tastes and finishes like Crown Royal whiskey at half the cost. I don't dig scotch much; It just has that sharp feel to it...:shrug:
