I decided it is time to get a Bonnaroo 2009 thread going.

Who is thinking about going?? I've never been to a music festival, and this year myself and 5 others are going to make the trek from MASS to Tennessee :grin: Who do you think will end up playing?? The Lineup comes out on Feb 3rd, so we got a few days to discuss. Think Phish is really going to headline?? Will the Dead accompany them??

Any people who have been themselves have good stories or teasers about the days to come??

I went to 2006 and had a blast.  You will too.

I probably won't go again though, gonna focus on smaller festivals.

Edit:  The only thing that sucked is the Drug Task Force searched my car hardcore on the way in.  Luckily I pulled over a couple miles from the entrance and re-hid the 1/2oz of headies that we had in a backpack in the back seat (wrapped the plastic bag in a hoodie and stuffed it into the bottom of my duffel bag).  The backpack reaked of bud, and cop searched through it for literally minutes. :lol:

They had four guys searching, but luckily didn't find anything. :thumbup:

Yeah, I went in '05 and heard rumors that it's gone downhill ever since (WARNING, THESE ARE RUMORS).


The next year I went to All Good in WV and had a great time.  Much smaller, more intimate festival.  This past year I went to Langerado and loved it.  It was mid-size (inbetween AllGood & Bonnaroo), just the right mix.

If Phish headline bonnaroo it's going to be a fucking shitfest.  Sooooo many people - and for that reason alone I probably won't attend.

I like intimate settings.

When ever im tripping hard at a music show, i need my own space.  I start getting mad bad vibes when a bunch of drunk people come bump into me or just cause their drunken drama.  When i see drunk people on LSD i am horrified of their condition, its really wierd but i get bad vibes from them.  If i have own space with only people ik and im tripping hard its a blast.

I also went to Bonnaroo in '05 and havent been since. I tried to sneak into allgood once but got caught and kicked out. I wanted to go to Langerado last year but lacked the money. I might try to go to some sorta festival this year.

I dunno man, it's kind of opposite for me.  LSD in a large crowd is exciting!  There's so many people I don't feel like I'm being scrutinized, I feel so free.  The music sounds so much better too, obviously.  There's such an energy with a crowd that big..  Over the summer I tripped at the Virgin Mobile Festival during Moby's DJ set in the dance tent, Stone Temple Pilots, Offspring, Chuck Berry and the Silver Bullets, Foo Fighters, and Finally NIN.  Goood fucking vibes, great time.  :sun:

A lot of the shows i go to on LSD are shows where people are really drunk too.  So i like to have my own space cuz there are a bunch of random really drunk strangers.

I don't mind being dosed in large crowds if it's the right type of atmosphere.  For example, All Good had a lot of chill people, and there wasn't much drunken drama.  On the other hand, Bonnaroo was packed full of people I just wasn't vibing with - 'meh, perhaps it was just me....

Yea I'm the same way, acid makes me feel really excited when I'm in a large crowd, especially a festival atmosphere.

My first acid trip was at Bonnaroo, and is still my most profound one.  I consider it one of the best experiences in my life so far.

I remember kind of losing my sight too during the trip.  I was so spun and had a really great beer buzz going too...  I couldn't see a damn thing but hearing Dexter Holland wail out "Gone Away" really hit the spot man.

Yeah that was really an amazing performance.  I could have enjoyed it so much more if I knew more NIN.  I've only heard their singles, never a full album, but holy shit that light show was off the hook.

when they made the screen into a massive drum machine my mind was sufficiently blown. Checking out The Fragile would definitely be worth your time.. I'd say the best NIN album

How is it that Bonnaroo would become overcrowded if Phish headlined??

They still only sell a certain number of tickets...

Think they would sell more due to the popularity of Phish??
