Fed up with society

So recently school has just started and I've been doing nothing but homework for the past two weeks.  Yesterday I spent 6-8 hours on two of my classes homework!  Some of my classes are really stressing me out and it has got me thinking do I really want to live like this?  It seems like all we do our whole lives is work, we work our asses off yet we still seem to struggle no matter who you are.  Why has society done this to us?  Is the meaning of life to work?  wtf....  sometimes i just wish i was a dog or something...

You can choose a different lifestyle if you wish.  Lots of people live simple lives in our society.  Of course, the more responsibility you cast off the less luxuries and security you will have; you just need to find your own balance.

Thats a good point, but it just makes me feel worse about our society. We really don't seem to give a fuck about the people in the third world.

It doesn't have to be that way.

I think that 'we' only serves to spread the blame: rather than admitting that you, personally, don't care, you widen the scope, as if to alleviate your own responsibility.

I do it, too. I should be doing something worthwhile to even the poverty scale myself. We're all much more influential than we probably think.

The world's an unfair place in many ways, for sure. But idle talk doesn't solve a thing.

Why should I bust my ass for minimal money when I can do minimal work and make alot of money? Every time Ive worked at a "job" I was heavily stressed, didnt make enough and constantly had people spitting in my face, underminding me, looking down on me, insulting me, etc, etc, etc. Its not worth it. Without a "job" I make relatively the same amount of money if not a bit more and people seem to have genuine respect for me. I have more time to do my own projects which generate income rather than having all my time eaten up by doing something I find unrewarding.

Why should I work if doing what I love pays more?

Many would argue the type of aid we send is actually perpetuating the cycle of crushing poverty there.

Why send food and money instead of farm equipment and education?

:nonono:  We spend more money on making sure food is scarce then we do on feeding people.  More money goes into making sure people don't reuse the seeds from last years crops (because seed companies own the patents on the seeds) then to making sure everyone has food.

The aid we send them is part of a game we play to keep them in slavery.  That aid is a marketing expense for an economic system that gives you food and them no food.  It's purpose is not to feed people but to generate a few images in the media which can be pumped to the stupid sheep that make up most of america so they don't feel responsible for or guilty about the sustained economic genocide necessary to support their opulent hollow lifestyle.  It's like exxon giving a few hundred dollars to an environmental defense fund after an oil spill.  Also the aid is not to support people, but to prop up or tear down certain regimes.

Stop being mesmerized.  We don't actually care about the third world, except exploiting it.  If we did, there problems would be solved already.  It's that simple.

There are hundreds of thousands of people actually involved in the relief work that you claim doesn't actually happen.

As a former peace corps volunteer that has actually left the small hamlet where I was hatched and raised, I feel that my information is slightly more reliable than your sixth-and-seventh hand stories from David Icke and Alex Jones about sheeple and vast governmental conspiracies to use the third world.

Yeah school can be overwhelming, I became a lot happier when I was done with it and out into the workforce.  But some people really get into it.

Whether life is a struggle or not really depends on how you think about your daily work.  If you see it as an obstacle between you and what you really want in life, then life will always blow, more or less.  If you look at it as million chances to improve your skill and power in the world, you might actually begin to like it.

As an able-bodied person in the western world you have more options and advantages than almost everyone in history.  The essential shit is already taken care of.  You have food, water and shelter, so everything else is just icing.  The only problem is deciding how to best spend the 24 hours of time you get every day.  Nobody chooses it for you.

Why be a dog when you are already an animal that is capable of so much more than a dog?  The only thing better about dogs is that they don't know how to waste time wishing life was perfect.
