FUCK WELLS FARGO

Fucking overdraft fees come out of nowhere. I swear to god, I'll check my balance, have plenty of money, then spend money, then check the balance afterwards and the amount spent is immediately deducted. And then SOMEHOW, days later, I'll get an overdraft fee because, according to the bankers I've spoken to, it takes *up to a week*-even with a debit card-for transactions to go through. Yet anytime I spend money it's always immediately deducted from my balance...

Doesn't overdraft protection come standard with every checking account in the world nowadays?

Find a better bank...

overdraft protection is actually bad, thats what is allowing him to overdraw his account and rack up fees.

tell them you want to turn off your overdraft protection.

We are thinking of two different things.

Overdraft protection at my bank links my checking account to my savings account so that any time I overdraft my checking the difference is transferred  automatically from my savings.

Turning this off would just get you a bounced check fee every time you overdraw your account.
