They won't decline the card because of the way the banking system works. You have three balances, available balance, ledger balance, and your real balance. Ledger balance shows the amount you have in your account before the days transactions have been processed, available balance usually shows you your balance taking transactions into accounts, and your real balance is only good if you know how to balance a checkbook and do it on a daily basis.

I don't get that either, I always thought that was the whole point of a debit card.
I mean shit, if I'm gonna get overdraft charges I might as well just get a damn credit card.
And the worst part is it takes it from one account, which will have like 100 in it at a time, and never from the other one which has a shit ton, and I always forget to transfer funds, so annoying.
And then there are times I don't overdraft, I just can't buy shit.
Luckily I can use my power to just make a few calls and get the charges erased.

You idiots need to start keeping track of your funds. Just write the shit down. If its not worth your time to write down the transaction, then maybe you shouldn't be buying the crap to begin with.

8 years of checking accounts and I have never had an over draft fee. Its not hard.

Hmm so using the "debit" option in a store (where I must enter my pin) will say "declined" whereas putting it through as a "credit" transaction will not?  I can't believe I'm going to graduate college in a year and I'm still a jerk off with respect to money :frown:

yah, because using your card as a debit card is essentially the same as making an ATM transaction. If the money isn't there, then the sale will be declined. When you use it as a credit card the bank "fronts" you the money and then charges you for it a few days later. This gives you a little leeway in making purchases/deposits.

I always use debit when i can because the money is immediately subtracted from my bank account and i can view the transaction online appear instantly. When you use your card as a credit card you never really know exactly when the money will be withdrawn from your account.
