My Day Skiing! *Pics*

I got there at ~ 9:30.  This is the view of the mountain from the parking lot.  Looks okay from here, and yesterday was pretty good, but we'll need to check it out.  Let's go to the top, shall we?




Getting closer...




Riding the chair..  The gullies there on the front side are looking pretty beaten up and burly.




How will we get to the top you ask?  Why on ze Tram, of course!!  - (stolen pic)




Here's a look at the mountain from inside the Tram.  Check out that gash just right of center...  That's the Big Couloir.  We'll get back to that...




Five minutes later and here I am watching the Tram go back down for a fresh batch of gapers.




Let's take a look around!!  Cedar Mountain to the southwest...




Fan Mountain to the northwest..  Those signs mark the boundary and the way down to the Big Couloir..




South.  Them's some pretty big mountains out yonder.  And, that's a different ski area down there...




If I can figure out how these work, we'll go skiing.




Here's Marx..  ~2000 ft. vert.  Don't fall today, you'll go all the way.




This doesn't do justice to how steep it can feel.




Looking back up..  It's pretty bumpy, but actually pretty soft.  Good skiing!!




Another lap?  How about seven?  I had a long day.  Here's another look at the Big, as you can see Patrol has begun sweeps for the day.  There they are at the top.




Pretty good day over all..  But, I'll be the first to say..  SNOW!!!!!!!

I go skiing every saturday morning at 5am till night time. I love winter!!

I gotta take some of my own pics skiing. Ive never done it for some reason :shrug:

never been to big sky. im from the east coast so i usually hit up vermont. but east coast skiing is NOTHING like west coast. I've been to lake tahoe and hit 5 mountains in that area, ive been to colorado twice. Completely different style of skiing, requires some getting used to for east coasters where we ski on hardpack type snow.

I loved big sky, once your up top go off to the right and ski the trees. I tore up big bear's park all day today.

Where do you live in Montana? I'm thinking about going to U of Montana in Missoula.

Had a friend who worked at that resort. Most drunken period of his life.

Nice pictures.

And why not move to Montana? Even if I move away for graduate school, I'll be coming back eventually. I love the mountains and the seasons. 4 seasons of outdoor recreation is great.
