methadone clinic

how do u go about getting help from a methadone clinic?
do they have to go thru ur insurance?
does it take awhile to get on a program?
can u just pay out of pocket like a health clinic?
could i just go there once and get a few doses of methadone to help ease my wds?

Whats paid for varies by the insurance plan. 

Like other medical services, you most certainly can pay for it out of pocket.

If you are in a metropolitan area, look into signing up for a methadone program as part of a research study.

Check your local paper.

If you open up the city paper in, say, Baltimore there are (literally) hundreds of studies looking for volunteers.

You might also check postings with universities.

You can go to some kind of doctor and get prescribed Suboxone. It is pretty expensive if you don't have insurance.
