Addicted to Opiates
    #9529201 -

For the past year I have been abusing heroin and other opiates. Only three other people know about my habit.I am not a hardcore addict, I don't do needles and don't use a HUGE amount.  I do anywhere between 2-6 bags a day... Which is bad but not horrible. But the main problem is how much it took over my life. The moment I wake up, I'm thinking about opiates and how I am going to revolve my day around acquiring and doing dope. I gotta stop before it ruins my life even more. For a number of reasons rehab is out of the question. So it would be either cold turkey or weening.

I just needed to get that off my chest. I am planning on completely stopping heroin and moderating other opiates. If I can't moderate I want to stop altogether. I just wanted to see if anyone else was ever in a similar situation... Any tips? thank you

please get help.  rehab is never completely out of the question, it might be a shitty rehab setup if you don't have a lot of money but it's something.  i'm not just talking out of my ass here, it's so fucking hard to quit opiates and i'm not saying you're not "strong" enough to do it on your own, but for the love of god please take it more seriously than you are right now.  trying to quit on your own makes ODing a lot more likely because you're so much more likely to binge.

I really cannot do rehab, no one in my family has a clue about my problem and Id like to keep it that way. I have faith that I can do it on my own. How long does it take to get over withdrawal symptoms? I have a week or so worth of suboxone and I can get more.

I do opiates and heroin about 4 times a week.  Have been for about 6 years, i think i can stop, and i do when i run out of money.  But i often find myself looking through peoples med cabinets in their bathrooms and shit looking for opiates when im at other peoples houses.  I never really tried stopping all the way, i don't think i ever could either.  Good luck man:thumbup:

yeah ive had my run ins with opiates...i never let it get as bad as you tho.

i think that with what you have said here you have a shot at being alright.  your physical symptoms are going to suck for a week or so...mentally you are going to want it for awhile...how long is just all up to the individual and such.

i say go cold turkey from the heroin and try taking 1 or 2 of those suboxones per day for about 5-7 days...then just dont take those anymore for a few months.  you should be good after that...you will have occassional cravings but they get easier and easier.

also you MAY be able to moderate other opiates later on in life.  i doubt it but it is not impossible.

The problem tends to eradicate itself.  One day you'll bet a bag cut with fent or just extremely potent and you'll OD and die.
