schizophrenia????

So I was browsing the shroomery and someone was describing their schizophrenic episodes and I thought "that doesn't sound crazy that sounds exactly like me" and then I remembered how fucked up I get sometimes and did some research.

As it turns out I exhibit many symptoms of schizophrenia and occasionally dissociative personality disorder.

I have thought for a while that I was just manic depressive because I have two very distinct moods brought on by opposing thought processes, but now I think I might have some serious problems.

Listen I didnt come here to bitch and moan I noticed that there have been cases of people "developing schizophrenia" what I mean is that it gets worse and worse with time.
Is this something I should worry about?
I have noticed that I become more and more introverted as time progresses.

As of right now I can still function and maintian an easy 4.0 average in college but this just got me worried.

BTW I have never been to a psychiatrist unaccompanied by a parent, and when I was young I did not have these problems so this is all my speculation.

Should I seek help or is it not that big of a deal?

I ask because I know that there are people here that have it.

it only fits criteria for a mental disorder if there is marked impairment in daily social, personal and professional functioning for a sustained period of 6 months or more.

We all have neurosis akin to psychotic illness, and we all are a little crazy sometimes.  that's normal, if we can function we're OK.

You could be a bona-fide paranoid schizophrenic with full-blown delusions
and see nothing but a cascade of monster guts and sonic rainbows, but if it works for you and nobody has a problem with you, It's not an "illness"

Of course, at that level, you're probably throwing shit at people and eating mud out of a squirrel carcass to keep away Nazi weather balloons.

Schizophrenia has been interestingly correlated with a deficiency of folic acid--you might want to try supplementing your diet with Vitamin B12 before you seek psychiatric help and its guaranteed prescription of heavy antipsychotics.

I suppose.  Interestingly enough though I think I have a lot of parallels with schizoid personality disorder, not to mention some antisocial tendencies.

Guys, this is a psychedelic drug forum. It's probably easier to count all the more sane members compared to the slightly eccentric ones.

Who knows what the doctors would tell me I have, but there is no way I'm getting put on a bunch of pills. I'm not dysfunctional, maybe afunctional.

Everyone's crazy, just some more than others.. crazy is such a lame word to describe a mental state don't you think?
