Ya, it's real nice. You can play videos from the external as well as music and pictures. My xbox 360 + torrents = free replacement for cable with all the premium channels.

Most of them that I've downloaded. A few of the .avi's won't work, and a few you need to download codecs for, but that's easy.

Thanks for posting this man, I never even thought of doing that before. I'm gonna go out and buy an external hard drive today. My 360's hard-drive is all ready full with xbox live marketplace videos and stuff.

What exactly are torrents? And where or what do I do to get them?

I just bought an external 1TB last night on NewEgg.com this is something I'd recommend quite a bit if you're looking at an external: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148356 Simple, pretty, huge storage space, barely over a hundred dollars, and comes with a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer at no extra cost. I was psyched about finding that deal.
Anyways, NewbieShroomie wrote up a pretty good explanatory post about torrents, so I won't try to steal his thunder and I'll just link ya:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9591125#9591125
My only point of disagreement with him is that I prefer BitTorrent to use as a download client, but that's just a personal preference thing. They all do essentially the same job.
If you're short on cash and wanna get this going right away you can connect your Xbox360 to the computer w/ a USB cord and share movies and music from your computer's hard drive using WMP (Windows Media Player) or TVersity.
Here's the link to Microsoft's how-to on just doing the USB link.
I've used this method for about a year now and it has its ups and downs, sometimes it will slow the computer down (mine is old) if I'm using it while watching a show, and I can't really have the stuff seeding while I'm watching it, so I have to turn off the client. Overall, though, I'd say the $12 purchase for the USB cord was well worth the hundreds I've saved in cable bills.
Now with a terabyte I never have to delete ANYTHING
SO pumped about this thing getting here.

So roughly how many 2 hour movies could that hard-drive hold?
I'm gonna run out to Best Buy later today and check out their prices, if they're too high I'll probly end up ordering tha same one or something similar.
I'm downloading some Trialer Park boys right now. This will be really convienient if picture quality is good.

2 Hour movies? If that was all you put on there, and I'm thinking compressed a bit like most of them are...most feature length films end up being 700MB or so.
1 TB = 1,048,576 MB
So if we figure about 700MB per movie that would be
1,048,576 / 700 = 1497.97 2 hour movies
The beauty with a system like that tho is you can just straight rip DVDs or BluRays to it without losing quality and not have to worry too much about taking up your space. A regular DVD movie (uncompressed) typically occupies 2-4.5GB so, conservatively, if you had only uncompressed videos you could fit over 200 on that hard drive.
I would really recommend that one that I linked...it's really an awesome deal. SeaGate is probably the most reliable hard drive manufacturer there is these days, and you can't shake a stick at a 5 year warranty for something as prone to breakage as an external hard drive. When you go to Best Buy make sure to ask about the manufacturer's warranties, and don't let them sucker you into that buyer protection plan crap.
