I would hardly call the LHC a failure.

They haven't even started yet.

sounds like a bad idea, while new nuclear technology means new nuclear power it often also means new nuclear weapons...

It's only a scaled-up model of a design that has worked very well in the past.

I used to live right near the big American particle accelerator outside of Chicago.

We'll see.  We should start a betting pool when they get ready to fire it up again.

The best part is that if the universe does get sucked into a black hole, you won't have to pay up.

Very true.  With that said I'll bet that it doesn't happen...
I'll also bet that they don't "see" the Higgs Boson.  (I might eat that later)
And I'll throw down that their biggest finding will be that dark matter is a product of the flying Jesus.

incredible.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
