I do small closet grows. I can put up to 24 plants in my closet (harvested at 2'). Anyway, I always plan on half of those being male. When I germ, I usually start with 50 and then weed out the weak and slow plants.

As soon as I get my new shop ready, and I do a G13 seedcrop, things are going to be changing. I'll do a nice journal from the bare room to the end product to turning my closet into a motherplant area.

I was thinking about a 1000W HPS, but now I think I am going to start with a single 600W HPS/MH (convert bulb/ballast), and add another one later if needed. I can't wait for that tax return :lol:.

I don't know, maybe I am just an idiot, but that looks like a pretty sativa dominant strain to me. Sativas branch out a lot.

Yeah,I was wrong,that looks exactly like a Sativa strain,but doesn't look anything like hemp in my opinion.

well, my kids are about 5-6" tall. I'm thinking of flowering them. any objections?

If you are going to flower them a this height, I would first do some clipping. clip away any fan leaves,that are not getting light, ie. in the shade of other leaves. and let the plants energy focus on the main cola. At this size, that is where all the energy should be focused. Just my opinion.

Its too early to flower. If they were clones you could flower at any time, but this is not the case. You really need to wait until they all show sex. Otherwise there is a good possibility of turning a few of them bisexual. Also, your yield isn't going to be very good. Let them get about a foot tall. That works great, and it takes close to 3 1/2 months from time of germ to harvest with the average bagseed. But yeah, it MAY double in size during flowering.

The stretching, occurs more with sativa dominant strains, during the flowering process. Most inicas, won't stretch upwards, but 2 to 5 more inches. but ethnoguy is right. let those stalks get a little thicker, and a little stronger before flowering. Id say at least another week and a half o two and a half weeks. Minumum.

cut them... You should be able to find some good trimming guides online..the plant is now wasting energy on those... Get rid of them. What temp is the room at, and how far from the plants is the HPS?. Do you have an oscilating fan?

I trimmed them removing all dead and most damaged leaves.
The temp fluctuates because the heat in my apartment is screwy.
it's about 80F.
The light was way too low, i think i burned them. it was only about 12-16 inches before but i raised the lights to 18 a few days ago and now it's at 20 inches.
And yes there is an oscilating fan inside.

12-16 inches, with if I remember correctly, 400W HPS, is way to close. It was defintely from the heat. Keep a light that powerful, at least 24inches, for the tops of your ladies. And what temperture is it outside. I only ask, cause 80degrees, seems like a stressful enviornment. I would suggest between 68-75 at most. Heat, and lack of fresh air circulation, will cause wilting. During the last two weeks of flowering, If you want to stress out the plants, by dropping the temperture, a bit lower to like the 50s, you will cause an increase in Trichome production. But to much heat, is never good. Basics-Water,Light,proper cirulation and temp.
