Best new arthouse movies?

I've enjoyed movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and other Kaufman films, not to mention a few indecent Australian ones like Bad Boy Bubby. I absolutely loved a film called Angels of the Universe by some people in Iceland.

I'm interested in seeing some new stuff, however. What has come out in 2007/2008? What new foreign films are there that shouldn't be missed?

Synecdoche, New York was good. It's also a Kauffman movie.

Though, I haven't seen any foreign ones that look so great unless I'm forgetting one.

'Twilight' is an action-packed, modern-day love story between a teenage girl and a vampire. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school....

Beverly Hills Chihuahua was, in my opinion, a masterful deconstruction of cinematic conventions, and perhaps one of the boldest, most innovative films of the past decade.  I suspect that it may mark the beginning of a "new wave" in American cinema.

some people told me the matrix was kind of esoteric but pretty good.  i haven't really  heard much about it, you would recommend it?

Eagle Eye kept the audience not knowing what the fuck was going on until it jumped to a.i. induced everybody knows whats going on for the conclusion.

For real, check out some mexican cinema, anything by Alejandro Jordoroski, particularly El Topo and Santa Sangre, but those aren't new.

There is so much good old foreign cinema, why go with new stuff?
