Perlite with mildew?

While using moist perlite to keep up the RH in my terrarium do I need to change out the perlite everynow and then to keep it from getting mildew or somthing else. Or if it is sterile enough so that the mushrooms dont become contaminated will that be enough to keep the moist perlite from becoming mildewy, and.. gross.
