Constipation
    #9360438 -

I have an addiction to Poppy Tea and keep consuming, but my stomach almost always hurts and I go about a week without disposing of bodily waste.  Is that what is causing my stomach to hurt?  How can I get rid of the constipation without discontinuing the tea?

A week between shits really isn't healthy my friend. The best advice is to try to tame the habit a bit. Other than that...lots of fiber, water, stool softener... dont really wanna use laxitives, but milk of magnesia is fairly mild

Stool softener and one of those an enema. I was laid up in a hospital bed for 1 month, and couldn't shit for 2 weeks when I got out. I finally did that, and took control...It was rough, but man did I feel good afterward.

Dude, lay off the pods for a week! If not to relieve your constipation than at least to keep your brain producing its own endorphins and not acclimatizing to constantly elevated levels of opiates in your brain, and thereby becoming addicted to the several opiate alkaloids contained in the tea.

Opiates and constipation run hand in hand with me as well. There are a few things that can help, but they aren't totally reliable: eating a bag of prunes, eating some baking soda (NOT TOO MUCH!), laxatives, stool softener, etc. But IME sometimes even these do not work; the constipating properties of pods seem to overwhelm these methods of relief. That, among a dozen other  reasons, is why breaks are necessary! It feels great to get tanked on opiates everyday, but it's NOT sustainable!

Great article on the subject of opiates and constipation, and some pharmaceutical methods of relieving it:

Stool softeners have always worked for me, and I have a decent sized habit.

Also, in the morning, before I dose, I can usually get some shit out. Pun intended.

Strong coffee and a cigarette. End of story for me, and I'm no stranger to opiate-induced constipation.
