hey all

need help for my mom
sometimes she cant shit for weeks
doctors couldnt help a lot
any alternative ways,recipes..etc.

Maybe Icelander can suggest some natural things she can take to help her become regular. I am just wondering if she is taking any prescription drugs that might be contributing to the problem.

Also her diet is probably a factor. Eating more food with lots of fiber should help. Throw out the white bread (little fiber) and add whole grain bread. Eat more veggies.

Avoid synthetic laxatives- you can become dependant on them.

Periodic constipation is a problem, but persistant constipation is usually associated with disease. So hopefully she can get and stay regular soon.

get a bottle of malox and take a chug every day.

they also make some drink thats made to clean u out.
drink it and 30 min make sure ur by the shitter  :wink:

just ask at walgreens

I agree it is mostly dependent on your diet, and also the amount of water you drink daily is a huge factor. I try to drink atleast a half gallon a day, juice too even.

Ya pretty much what everyone has said already.. lots of fiber, whole grains.. green leafy vegetables, fruits, and plenty of water.

Fiber's key.

When I get that embarassing problem which is more due to mental stress than physical problems, I eat a can of beans. Seriously. They're good as hell for you, I love the taste with some ketchup and bbq sauce, and you're almost guaranteed to go that night. :wink:

Other bonuses include things like a ton of protein. Beans are full of fiber and you can eat them with a ton of other foods if you don't like them straight.
