If I have a sporeprint, I  could inoculate the cakes with just that right?  How would I rehydrate the spores?  Or should I just go out and buy some 10cc syringes?

I would think you shuold go get some syringes if your still new...
from what I understand, using just a print to innoculate is more suseptible to contams, and is alot harder than just making a spore syringe. :wink:

Syringes are the way to go. They will increase your odds of a clean innoc. 6T

Yeah it sounds like I should just go buy some syringes, which brings me to the next point:  what kind of stores would sell them?  I know I can just order them over the net, but I'd rather not wait for shipping...  Also what  type of syringes should I buy?  10cc syringes with 16-20 guage needles?  Would a 28 guage needle work, or should I avoid that entirely?

If you have feed stores around your neck of the woods? They sell large  bore syringes & needles OTC.  Any syringe will work. Tiny ones are just a PITA.

yea, most feed shops have them, theres one in a run down shack down the road from me, and they have 12cc syringes w/ 18 guage 1 1/2 inch needles for like $0.50

The only syringes I can seem to get ahold of (without ordering over the internet, I don't really want to wait a week and a half to get some syringes...) are 1cc syringes with 25ga needles, which seem kinda pointless...

So how would I go about using just the sporeprint to inoculate the jars? One guide said to just scrape of a "matchhead sized" area of the sporeprint into the jars... But don't you need to re-hydrate the spores?

Check your phonebook for a farm supply store. They always carry 10cc syringes and 18ga 1.5" needles.

I looked in my yellowpages, and the closest "feed supply store" is 45 mins away :frown: and I can't even call them until monday to find out if they have what I need...  I guess I'll just have to wait :frown:

If you are in desperate need of a syringe,  (as in very desperate)  go to a garden center and look for a weed killing product that uses a syringe for measuring out exact amounts,  (dont worry, it will be clean,  just dont use it first :smile: ) and get a ball pump extension, as in the little thing that looks like a needle (for pumping basket balls). Pull out the injectory bit of the syringe, shuv the ball pump needle in there and put the injectory bit back in  and Voila!!!  You have an incredibly home made looking syringe that does work, you wont be able to inject very far or be able to get every last spore out, but it will do the job.  :grin: You could always ring directory inquiries and ask where you nearest needle exchange is.........

or you could get a printer ink refill kit...most of those come with a syringe.

wow... that does sound like a desperate way of getting a syringe :grin:
i think i'll just order 10 of em through the mail, cuz i can't seem to find any around here

and the printer ink-refill thing doesn't work, all the ones i can find have non-refillable syringes full of ink (and they aren't really even syringes, just queer bottle things with a plastic 'needle')
