Needle substitute?

Hello all,

thanks for having me in this knowledgeable community!
This will be my first post.

A friend of a friend has just ordered a print from overseas(First experience/Shroomery sponsor), but has run into a problem: He can't find any needles anywhere. He'd rather not order this from overseas since he doesn't want to risk getting it stopped at customs and get "listed". Sales of needles are generally prohibited in where he lives.

Would a needless syringe he has to force feed his pet somehow do? Are there any substitute techniques?

Or should he bite the bullet and risk importing one?

Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.

If you make a glovebox and can demonstrate proper sterile technique, you can just scrape off a portion of the print into your jars. Thats probably the easiest thing for you to do. Next time you can just order a spore syringe and reuse it.

In a glovebox, put a few drops of water on the print and agitate it with a piece of wire to get the spores into suspension. You can then lift the lid of the jar and pour these few drops right in. If you're using the pf tek, you'll have to use some other sort of filter, such as synthetic filter disks so the solution can be poured right onto the substrate.

A better idea though is to go to a computer printer store. They have ink refill syringes that have blunt tip needles that work fine. The needles are dull and can't be used for drug use, so they should be available everywhere. Boil the whole thing for 20 minutes to sterilize it.

hobby shops often carry cannula (blunt needles) in 23 through 14 guage

check the glues section, have them order them if they dont carry them

a 100 pack was like $9, still had to sterilize it yourself

I think I'll tell my friend to tell his friend to have a look at the local hobby store, and if he can't find it there, he'll order a computer printer syringe.

No problem,I should add that most of the ones I have seen don't have screw on needles,just something you may want to consider because if you are not careful the needle can come off,especially when pulling it back through a self sealing injection port of silicone
