Hah, his look as he took off the glasses. I hope that was real. Don't drive and I have no idea how much force it takes to deploy an airbag.

she probably just hit the perfect spot.  I think it is equivilent to a 35mph impact to deploy airbags, but of course, the systems aren't perfect.  One of my friends in boy scouts got fucked up by his airbag just hitting a bump in the road...

Something about it seems fake. First off I can't exactly tell if the passenger airbag deployed or not and secondly airbags have holes in them so the second they deploy they release a bit to cushion the persons head.

Then again, he wasn't slamming his head forward on the bag like what would happen in a front end collision, but there still should have been some smoke.

I saw a Mercedes SL500 get nailed on the passenger door a few months ago and even though the drivers head didn't come into contact with the airbags there was still a TON of smoke rolling out the windows of the car.

That, and I just realized the Granny fell asleep standing up. How likely is that :P?

And especially since the cameraman automatically turned around and zoomed in on the old lady and the car before the guy even started honking. And you can't hear anyone telling him to turn around to film it either.

I'm 99.9999% sure it was set up. Maybe we can find it on Snopes.com or something.

I watched it last night while shroomin. You do hear the screech and the engine rev before the camera turns. I still think it may be fake though. Someone mentioned her falling asleep as being a contributing factor to the fakeness because the is unlickly to happen. I have seen people fall asleep standing many times and that wouldn't supprise me if at all.

So I do believe it is fake but I would not rule out the possibility of it being real.

I'm not sure basing if off the airbags is fair, but I am no expert on that, and there is definitely a lack of smoke.  I don't know all airbags will release a ton of smoke, especially if nothing hits the airbag so not much air is vented.  It is likely that if I was staging it, I would rig the airbag to deploy properly when granny hit it, instead of doing... who knows what to get it out.

Now I was the first person in this thread to say I think it's fake.  I know for a fact these types of videos are made all the time, where a supposed impromptu event is actually staged.  Generally the signs have to do with picture quality (this is not a cell phone recording), and how the action is framed.  The action is perfectly framed in this video.  Of course they try and make it look plausible through various mean so it's hard to say exactly what someone will do in a fake video, but I promise you these fake videos are very common.  People want to make a video lots of people will watch, so they make them.  I don't think there is anyway to know for sure, unless we have some very serious experts in here capable of identifying something they did wrong when they made the video.  If you could show me an airbag deploying with smoke from a car of the same make and model that was not in motion, that would be enough proof for me.

Here was a big warning for me.  If the event was not staged, why not start the video with the camera pointed at the dude honking at granny?  Its like the skateboarders were put into the video to give the camera a reason for being there.  That is something you think about when you stage a video instead of edit it for content.

The tire squeal is another other big warning.  The guy is at a stop sign, and someone is asleep in the intersection.  Why would you approach the stop sign in this way?  Then he revs up his engine a bunch so we know for sure he's an asshole, even when he has no where to go.  This feels even more staged the second time I watched it than the first.  Even the sound that is made when the bag hits the car is suspicious to me.  I don't know what an airbag sounds like when it deploys with no crash so I can't say for sure.  I am not an expert on these things... but I think you should definitely have a skeptical eye when you watch that video.  You certainly can't prove it is real, only that it is not real.  I don't feel I have passed the proof test, but I am way beyond reasonable doubt.
