Party life is sweet!...........................For a while.  Then (hopefully) they will look around to see what else is out there.  That's when there's time for real growth of the personal nature.

I watched a hell of alot of Mtv at that age.

I don't party much anyway. The most extreme I get is two friends and I doing shots. I hate large groups of people, and think the whole idea of going somewhere and getting shitfaced drunk with people you don't know is stupid.

I couldnt imagine selling this logic to one of the kids at the shelter... if they listened to me not only would I be fired for gross incompetence but they would ruin their lives.

I think it has to do with age and maturity. Who else are they supposed to look up to? As i've gotten older i'm concerned less with money and flashing it around and more on accomplishments and knowledge. When I went to the Jefferson memorial recently i felt really awe-inspired by his accomplishments and how much we honor his great work and mind. I think it would be cool to have an 18 foot statue made to commemorate my doings someday, but thats not how i felt when i was a kid...

Maybe its the age..  I know when I was 15 and metallica was the iconic figure of my generation I wanted to be a rockstar and little more. Now it seems so insignificant. drugs and partying, all that shit, just a waste of fucking time. Now I crave knowledge, does anyone feel me here?

Is it true that our society just fucking sucks from the emergence of all these commercialized pop/rap/whatever figures, or has it always been like this and I am finally starting to accept it as part of my transition into the grumpy old man stage?

I went through the phases like anyone else, even enjoyed iconic idiots of my day (Alice Cooper).  But I never, ever did not crave knowledge.  And I always had a grumpy old man side.  For me drugs were a science then, and now.  I had a drum set in my bedroom and a lab in the garage.  Part :nerd:  part :hippy:

I remember a friend coming up to me in the library when we were like 17 and asking if anyone knew what these pink pills were because he was going to take them.  Even then I was like :rolleyes:

Some people are born idiots and will die idiots.  Others grow out of it.

The world is a beautiful, fucked-up place.  There are parts that are hard to accept.
