    #925223 - 10/02/02 04:43 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

found these in my backyard along a pathway with alot of other very LBMs growin with them, but these stood out different than the others.

these are what they look like upclose. gills are black/brown and some are tan and fading to an offwhite/grey/blue. the ones on the right are getting dryer and have a more stain of drk purple to them.

heres some closeups after 15 min of picking

thanks again. keep hunting.  :smirk:

those dont look trippy.
mycena?
coprinus?
not psilocybe, not panaeolus (actually there might be one or to panaeolinas in there)
come on nimrod, the ones you want have dark spores, thus dark gills.
those are too dark.
another thing to look for in psilocybe (not pans, tho) is a seperable gelatinous pellicle, i.e. a rubbery skin on the cap that you can usually peel off when fresh.
keep lookin

Yup most are mycenas...hard to narrow it down, but in the fall they are one of the most prevalent wood loving mushrooms...

Cheers

"...I found dozens of single specimens.  That's what I call hunting.  There are only a few "good" hunters here, even now.  You're certainly in that group.  I would imagine if we hunted together we'd find our styles are similar."

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.
